Black Friday pay ?

Just wondering about everyone that is forced to work BF. Was it ever a holiday? I would have thought that this is a nationwide holiday but from reading all the posts here it seems that only 2 locals have this holiday. What happened? Did you get another day for it?

The only day most of us can't be forced to work is Labor Day.

All of the other "holidays" they can force you in. The contract just states how you are to be paid if they do.

If you take Black Friday off from now on , you’ll most likely be on call for Saturday ground.

They should just let people use their vacation year around instead of not allowing it during peak

Yeah, that might open up some summer weeks for those of us who actually still have kids in school.

Not necessarily. The reason we got Black friday holiday pay AND New Years Eve holiday pay is because we work through a lot of minor holiday's. If the teamster negotiators forget that then they may give it away.

No we're likely going to lose Black Friday as a holiday, it's been worked the last 3 now 4 years, hopefully it either stays so we get the bonus pay for working the holiday or we get another day or an optional day to take off. I sadly don't have faith in the negotiators to achieve any of what I just said.

Today was double time.. 4 hours for PT, double time 8 hours FT.. overtime after that for all.
