Jack Wilson, the security volunteer who quickly shot the Texas church shooter at West Freeway Church of Christ, stopping him and likely saving many lives, is a former reserve deputy sheriff who was the long-time owner of a firearms training academy.

I watched the video more than a dozen times trying to figure out what he was reaching for. Whatever it was, be it a wallet, a weapon, or a phone, he never actually gets the item out. It looks like he was reacting to the hostile but was ill prepared to deal with the threat and the hostile had the advantage of first strike.

Dont bring a wallet to a gunfight and dont reach for a hanky when a dude has a sawed off shotgun raised.
If you have a gun, are in the open at point blank range, and the other guy has a shotgun raised dont be stupid enough to go for your gun unless you fall away first or you're Kato on the Green Hornet.

You could probably draw and fire a handgun quicker than he could point and fire a shotgun. Unless the shotgun is already pointed at you. Then you wait until the shotgun is pointed elsewhere first.

I read somewhere that there was speculation the shooter was going for a robbery of the collection plate. IDK, if the first fallen was giving up his wallet or reacting to engage. I hope that the witnesses and investigation can give us a better idea of the roles and actions of the two fallen.

Any security person or anyone paying attention in today's world and wants to live has to be smarter than the idiots that hide long guns under long coats in a mass gathering.

The shooter was arrested in New Jersey last year. And released. Sounds like he was just a nutcase.

The dude had the shotgun raised and pointed for at least 4 seconds when the guy stepped toward him and stuck his hand under his jacket.
Watch the video again. You'll see it plainly. He became the unwilling (dead) decoy while the other guy shot him.

This could of turned into Christchurch, everyone huddle in a corner waiting their turn to be mowed down. Maybe a hero or two charging the gun man only to be shot and killed. Instead there were armed men ready to kill anyone who tried that nonsense.

It's a sad day that people can't go to church and worship their God and be free from the concern of who is going to shoot you from the balcony or the next row ahead.
Not that life is perfect everywhere but it didnt used to consistantly be this bad and no laws can fix this onslaught.
P.S. Biden was worthless as VP. Now he's an expert on social issues. Just what we need. Another Howard Cosell.
