So the USPS must be earning big delivering Amazon. UPS needs a 12 month, no discount contract with Amazon. You cut volume during the year, no peak.

I never mentioned partisanship but since you brought it up, what was the party line vote in 2006?

The House was near unanimous with a handful of republicans that voted no. The Senate was unanimous so there is no record of the vote tally.

I both agree and disagree with you. While I feel that they do deserve financial assistance, I agree with you that they should not receive a penny until they totally overhaul their business model.

They should NEVER receive assistance. Once the boomers are gone there will be no need for a post office and they are undercutting UPS and FedEx and are basically in league with another private competitor (Amazon) and none of that (in a sane world anyway) should be permitted to happen. The purpose of the government is to GOVERN. Not arbitrarily provide employment and be in competition with the private sector. It should at least be fair. It’s far from it.

That was some BS. But a perfect example of why the USPS should be shuttered. I’d settle for mail only but that is going the way of the dinosaur.
