NO, NEVER !!

Now I need to attack high-end Italian Restaurants. On a good sale day, plus a coupon, you can get a pound of the best imported pasta for 50 cents a pound. How does a restaurant give you less than a 1/4 pound of pasta with a little tomato-based sauce and charge $28 - $30 for an entree???

If I get Barilla or Ronzoni pasta, I'm a happy camper. There are some excellent jar & can spaghetti sauces out there that you can doctor up with fresh herbs (basil or oregano etc) . Ragu (traditional) or Hunts (4-cheese) are very good sauces to begin with. When you add your own meat ( meat balls, bracciole, chicken, pork, etc) they will take on the special flavor you want. Use REAL grated parmesan & romano and you're set!

I have a real hard time cost-justifying Italian reataurants. Olive Garden is modestly priced and also Macaroni Grill, but mostly I enjoy my own Italian food.
