Central Region Saturday Ground

35years

Gravy route
Does anyone have knowledge of how seniority and language will affect how Saturday Ground will work in the Central?

Various drivers have speculated that if you were a driver before the Saturday language was added to the contract that you could not be required to switch to a Tue-Sat shift and you retain your right to do your own route on Monday.

If your route is mostly residential and is nearly all done on Saturday can they claim your route is "not in" or eliminated on Monday, or do you have the right to follow what little is left of your route?

If your remaining stops on Monday are split 2 or 3 ways do you have the right to choose by seniority (follow your work)...or is this a "temporary change" in operations?

Here, if they move your route to T-S, you could bump another driver that you have seniority over.

Their speculation is wrong.

If your route is done on Sat, you'd be a T-S driver, and Monday would be your day off, they cut runs on Mondays a lot anyways, they will cut more.

Nothing is happening, until the issues with part-time and 22.3 people are resolved.

(How else are they going to staff a Saturday operation?)

Drivers have speculated

Ignore speculation from other drivers or management.

Call your BA.

Locals will schedule meetings, "if and when" anything is finalized.

I don't see anything happening soon.

The issue, should be a part of the upcoming contract negotiations.

Not some sort of "half***" MOU.

It is already in there

ARTICLE 12-HOURS OF WORK

Section 1
In the case of each full-time seniority employee the standard workweek

shall be forty (40) hours per week, and the standard workday

shall be eight (8) hours per day. Work shall be scheduled for five

(5) consecutive days - Monday through Friday or Tuesday through

Saturday. An employee may be required to work in excess of an

eight (8) hour day or a forty (40) hour week and in that event, he/she

shall be compensated at the rate of time and one-half (1 1/2) his/her

regular straight-time rate for all hours worked in excess of eight (8)

hours in a day or forty (40) hours in a week

In order for the Employer, the Union and employees to further benefit

from expanding service offerings to our customers, it may

become necessary to create schedules that differ from those that

exist today. Future full-time schedules may be expanded to include

Sunday through Thursday. Should that happen, current full-time

employees will be afforded the opportunity to select their preferred

schedule in seniority order.

What am I missing? Even Sun thru Thurs is in there.

That should be easy--just have them work an extra day. That's what happens when you are salaried. You won't mind working an extra day will you Frigid?
Used to do it all the time in Minnesota. Debating if I'm going to jump on the T-S train

Are you sure?
Where is that provided for in the Central Region Supplement?
Seems to be the case in Art 12 sec 1(2nd paragraph), in the case of a Sunday thru Thursday schedule, but not for M-Fri or Tu-Sat (1st paragraph).

Perhaps Art 3 sec 9?
Make the argument that my start time was changed by 24 hours?

Can you imagine the chaos???

We have a PT OMS that runs Saturday Air now. Just how big of a deal is Saturday ground going to be?
We're going to have at least one On Road present. Probably two when it first kicks off and transition to one. It's all going to depend on what they want to do with the PDS' schedule
