they need investment and a state which acts in good faith.

Can't just throw money at black communities and expect it to work out. They have to deal with their own problems first.

African-American family structure - Wikipedia.

"in 1965 on the coming destruction of the Black family, the out-of-wedlock birth rate was 25% among Blacks. In 1991, 68% of Black children were born outside of marriage. In 2011, 72% of Black babies were born to unmarried mothers. In 2015, 77% of Black babies were born to unmarried mothers."

Sorry, bubba. America isn't full of scary white people holding black people down. The crime statistics are what they are.

Don't be so paternalistic toward blacks with your assumptions that they're inherently unable to cope with the economy, etc as well as whites. Pretty racist stuff.

Defunding the police would obviously be devastating to high crime areas. I’m amazed that white kids from comfortable, low crime neighborhoods like @rickyb still aren’t being called out for trying to pull the rug out from under black communities just to make themselves feel good about being so woke.

I know the typical fallback position for the BC hard lefties is that the worst of the hard leftist proposals from Bernie, AOC etc would never actually be passed into law anyway. So we need not worry about them or take them seriously. Are they really willing to gamble with black lives over the idea that defunding of the police couldn’t actually happen either? That it’s all just a virtue signaling circle jerk? Pretty amazing.
What does “defund the police” even mean? Pretty sure you know but you’re playing into right wing fear mongering.

The hard left knows exactly what it means. You likely know what it means. And it's absolute madness.

Merely one piece from the New York Times. A standard bearer of hard left politics and opinion. Would you like me to link to more of this?:

Opinion | Yes, We Mean Literally Abolish the Police

"Enough. We can’t reform the police. The only way to diminish police violence is to reduce contact between the public and the police."

"I’ve been advocating the abolition of the police for years. Regardless of your view on police power — whether you want to get rid of the police or simply to make them less violent — here’s an immediate demand we can all make: Cut the number of police in half and cut their budget in half. Fewer police officers equals fewer opportunities for them to brutalize and kill people. The idea is gaining traction in Minneapolis, Dallas, Los Angeles and other cities."

"Why on earth would we think the same reforms would work now? We need to change our demands. The surest way of reducing police violence is to reduce the power of the police, by cutting budgets and the number of officers.

But don’t get me wrong. We are not abandoning our communities to violence. We don’t want to just close police departments. We want to make them obsolete."

"People like me who want to abolish prisons and police, however, have a vision of a different society, built on cooperation instead of individualism, on mutual aid instead of self-preservation. What would the country look like if it had billions of extra dollars to spend on housing, food and education for all? This change in society wouldn’t happen immediately, but the protests show that many people are ready to embrace a different vision of safety and justice.

When the streets calm and people suggest once again that we hire more black police officers or create more civilian review boards, I hope that we remember all the times those efforts have failed."

It starts with the best of intentions and extreme naivete, it moves on to family members and neighbors informing on each other for disloyalty to the party, and ends with millions upon millions of burning corpses. They're always just one more purge away from utopia.

Whatever you have to tell yourself to make you feel better when the secret police march your parents off to the labor camps after you informed on them.

"Oh, well, at least this isn't capitalism."

oh okay. nice to hear america has competely overcome its history of racism and slavery. nothing to see hereeeeeee move along!

Yeah, 'cause America is the only country to have a history of slavery and racism. All those racist white folks who died killing other white folks while trying to end slavery. SMH.
