Do i have to show up?

Mine is 40 miles one way!
and I only made $10/hr with no guarantee of the amount of hours I would get ,
many times as little as 90 mins.
Spend an hour or more to get there , make $15.00 and leave just to repeat it again several hours later . I did this for years .
If it was easy everyone would and could do it .
UPS is not for the weak spirited .

Nah. Couldn't care less. Well, as long as they're not groupies. For some reason that kind bugs me. Lol.

I was hired as a TCD last October 2016. I drove all peak season and then started preload in January. I keep hearing that I will be driving soon but I still haven't. I have reached seniority and I notice there are other TCD below me driving while I'm still working preload. I was told it was because I am very fast and a hard worker in preload. I can't afford to keep working preload at 11/hr when I live 40 miles away from the hub so I was told I could just not show up for preload and wait for them to call me to start driving again. When I look at my timecard it says no call. Is this bad? Can I be fired? Is it better to show up and continue working preload? I can't find anywhere what the requirements are and what are the consequences when you don't show up for preload.

Ok the one thing I think you should do is bug the Sup that trained you and the business manager to let them know you want it, I understand you want to work but you have to literally bug the hell out of them and they will get tired of hearing from ya and put you on.

Hope that helps.

I never remembered having to bug the hell out of a sup to go driving... just sign the list and qualify.....seems like too many hoops to jump through for a job that isn't as coveted as it once was...

I have signed every bid list that goes up. Even the ones I don't have to sign. HR called and told me u don't have to sign this tcd bid list...u r already a TCD. I told him I was signing every single piece of paper up there twice so they don't ever forget my name. Lol

No, the job is not coveted at all by a lot of new employees. Sure the promise of a $100k job with only a drivers license sounds great until you find out what is involved. 50 to 60 hours a week every week and sure hope you don't get hurt or have too many accidents because you are done.

TCD is a scam.... you are either a full time driver or not...
