Yes. They didn’t just pick out the good news but I believe they definitely wanted to tell the story of God’s love for humanity through Christ.

IMO The only story that humanity really needs to hear and accept is that the God of the Universe so loves the world, so loves humanity.

If all religions are a means of salvation then nothing is absolute truth. So that would be indirectly denying the divinity of Christ and the saving power of the cross.
The hierarchy of the Catholic Church for the most part believes you can be saved in other religions. Obviously Catholics don't believe that so therefore you must conclude that the men that hold some of these offices are not even Catholic.
Wolves and sheeps clothing. By the fruits you shall know them. I Believe in scripture Christ asks the question when I return will I find faith.

My first statement was logic. The second fact. Meaning, the statements and actions from the men in question. The third is both my opinion and scriptural.

For the victims of clerical sexual abuse and for the organizations affected, they are, indeed, "sad and serious". My heart goes out to them, and when I think about it, I get pissed off, as well.
That being said, I think that joke is funny. Humor is a great way for people to deal with difficult topics. IMHO, if you're that easily offended, you're on the wrong chat board, friend. Maybe, especially for a churchy- type topic like this one, try a churchy- type chatboard. You'll be far less likely to come across "inappropriate " jokes. BC is chock full of racists, misogynists, mental defectives, flat earthers and traitors. This just not a good space for the easily offended.

IMHO Jokes about sad and serious topics and problems are very inappropriate.
IMO If you don’t like my opinion in regards to this then this discussion thread may not be for you.
I firmly believe that many in the BC Community are not as you described.

Any thread that any BC user feels like visiting is open game, including this one. I disagree wholeheartedly with you regarding the members of this chatboard. There's plenty more that I disagree with besides just you, but I'm the type that does not need everyone I engage with to agree with me on everything, or even anything. The more the merrier, in my book.

Father Smith was the understudy to Father Jones. Jones had to travel and for the first time, left Smith in charge. Jones knew Smith would be taking confession but told him not to worry. "I made a chart with every sin you will hear, and the corresponding penance".
Soon after, Smith was in the confession booth, taking confession. Everything went swimmingly until a woman came in and nervously confessed to engaging in sodomy. Smith could not find the sin on the list. Increasingly nervous, he leaned out of the booth just as the choir boys were making their way past the booth. He grabbed one the boys.
