FedEx has had it's share of theft rings too, where management and hourlies conspire together and make a plan. Over the years, I've seen or heard of drug rings, ticket scams, gold and jewelry thefts. The managers would hook-up with hourlies (like handlers) who would go through the residential pkgs on Saturdays or other "off" times where the building was empty. The drugs, jewelry, tickets, etc would then be sold off and the profits divided. Cameras have helped slow it down, but the smart ones know how to evade them. Most get caught, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are some long-term criminals out there. I know of one courier who had been ripping off stuff for years, and it took them a long time to get him. He'd only take 1 item, and only occasionally, methodically going through electronics boxes after slitting them with a blade.
