Holder Cites Race in Explaining Scrutiny of Justice Department Actions

Eric Holder is once again under fire from Republicans -- this time for pulling the race card to dismiss critics of his tenure as attorney general.
The attorney general cited race in explaining why a "more extreme segment" of his critics were going after him. "This is a way to get at the president because of the way I can be identified with him, both due to the nature of our relationship and, you know, the fact that we're both African-American," Holder said in an interview with The New York Times

Friday, December 30, 2011 @ 10:55 am | Holder Suddenly Worried About Illegal Firearms Being Used To Killed Law Enforcement Officers…

The name “Fast and Furious” ring a bell, Eric?
(Politico) — The number of officers killed in the line of duty jumped 13 percent in 2011 compared with the year before — and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder condemned the increase as “a devastating and unacceptable trend” that he blamed on illegal firearms.

The number of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty rose to 173 this year, from 153 in 2010, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund announced Wednesday. This year’s figure is 23 percent higher than 122 killed in the line of duty in 2009.

Holder said “too many guns have fallen into the hands of those who are not legally permitted to possess them,” in explaining the increase.

It's my understanding that prior to Fast & Furious, guns were 'tracked" after being sold. In fast & furious there was no tracking. What's the point if you don't track them?

How about to identify the DEALERS who are selling the weapons in the first place?

Maybe if the USA cracked down on the GUN SELLERS, there wouldnt be a problem in mexico in the first place.

Peace.

But in this case isn't the US government the dealer? Isn't the US government a terrorist arms dealer in this case? Shouldn't those responsible be tried as terrorists?

The US told the gun sellers to go ahead & sell large lots of guns after the store called the gov't to report it. All goes back to the gov't.

Supposedly,GOP is racist for having their debate on MLK day, but that didn't stop Holder from campaigning for Obama.

Monday, January 16, 2012 @ 8:14 pm | No Shame: Holder Pathetically Campaigns For Obama During Speech Honoring MLK…
Unbelievably pathetic.
(Washington Examiner) — Attorney General Eric Holder gave a speech ostensibly honoring Martin Luther King Jr., but Holder’s comments also echoed reelection themes that President Obama cites when he alludes to the civil rights leader.
“[Martin Luther King Jr.] proved that – here in America – large-scale, sweeping, righteous change is not impossible,” Holder told a South Carolina audience, according to prepared remarks. ”It is not too audacious,” he added, in an apparent allusion to Obama’s campaign theme and book title. ”It is not too ambitious. And it is not the province of God alone.”

Moments later, Holder praised Dr. King in terms that seemed to exhort Obama’s supporters not to be disappointed in the president. “But one of the most important lessons that Dr. King left to us is that it is acceptable to be frustrated,” he said. ”It is fine to be impatient. And, when progress does not come quickly or fully, it is only natural to be dissatisfied. In fact, being frustrated, impatient and dissatisfied is fine – but only if those feelings compel us to take action.”

President Obama took a similar tack last year when asking supporters at a Congressional Black Caucus rally to keep faith in him. “Progress often takes time . . . It’s never easy,” the president said at the time. ” And I never promised easy. Easy has never been promised to us. But we’ve had faith. We have had faith. We’ve had that good kind of crazy that says, you can’t stop marching.”

SC Dem Chair: GOP Holding Debate On MLK Day Is Racist — O’Reilly: You Do Know Dems Held a Debate On MLK Day In 2008?
Via Mediaite:
South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Dick Harpootlian objected earlier in the week on MSNBC to today’s Republican primary debate.
...he considered it objectionable to have a debate on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and “ignore” the holiday.
“Are you offended?” O’Reilly asked Harpootlian, who replied that he was not, but that he found the fact that Republicans had “no outreach to African Americans” a problem “in a state where we have an African-American Republican Congressman.” “Adding insult to injury, this debate ignoring Martin Luther King’s birthday!” he added, which made O’Reilly ask who was ignoring the debate and why. The Republicans, Harpootlian replied, because “no one has raised any issue with Fox about it being appropriate or inappropriate.”
O’Reilly then asked whether there was a reason for this — namely, something that happened in 2008.
Harpootlian did not remember what happened in 2008 (a Democratic primary debate on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day) and who sponsored it (the Congressional Black Caucus), which prompted several awkward seconds where Harpootlian was obviously caught flat-footed. With this development, O’Reilly then told him that, “by injecting race into this, you do a disservice.”

[h=3]WND EXCLUSIVE[/h] [h=1]Judge: White House persecuting pro-lifer[/h] [h=2]'Court is at a loss as to why the government chose this case'[/h]
A federal judge says he doesn’t have enough evidence to sanction Barack Obama’s Department of Justice, but its prosecution of a Florida pro-lifer is suspiciously like persecution.
“It is rather curious that the Department of Justice was able to meet with the [Presidential Women's Center in West Palm Beach, Fla.] staff and police officers the very next day after the alleged violations occurred. It is also curious that the government failed to make any efforts to obtain the identities of the passengers who are the alleged victims in this case – the court finds it hard to believe that the government was completely unaware of the existence of the sign-in sheets and video surveillance system.”

The comments come from U.S. District Judge Kenneth L. Ryskamp on a decision granting summary judgment for Mary Susan Pine.
She had been charged with a violation of the Federal Access to Clinic Entrances law and could have been subjected to an intimidating $10,000 fine.
“This is a tremendous victory not just for Susan Pine, but for the First Amendment and the pro-life movement,” said Harry Mihet, senior litigation counsel for Liberty Counsel, which worked on the case.
“Attorney General [Eric] Holder sought to use federal law as a billy club against pro-lifers, but received instead a clobbering from the very Constitution he had sworn to protect. Freedom-loving Americans everywhere should rejoice.”
Liberty Counsel said the action “ended Attorney General Eric Holder’s two-year political prosecution of pro-life educator Mary Susan Pine.”

I saw that segment and right after Dick H., he had DeMint and he said that just because he didn't attend the event that Dick was at doesn't mean deMint didn't observe the day. There were many, many observances you could attend.

Dick H. was looking to pull the race card and most people aren't putting up with that trick anymore.
