    In another positive harbinger for unions, the Teamsters and United Parcel Service have negotiated a new contract. An important feature lets UPS lower its pension costs by allowing it to leave the multiemployer Teamsters fund for a UPS-only fund. Under the old scheme, UPS was effectively making pension contributions for itself and other, less prosperous companies.
