Ground Crew at the Airport

How is it that the ground crew at the airport are not union? Specifically local 245 in Missouri. I am talking about the employees that unload the cans and place the packages on the belt to be sorted into cars that shuttle the air to regional centers. I don't know all of their duties, but they drive tugs with the cans and unload.

Is what it is. Only UPS employees are the ones that work in the airport office and a couple of supervisors that work on the ramp.

Local 245? Isn’t that Springfield, Missouri? Do they even have an airport?

All the ramp workers at Logan UPS are all local 25

You need a minimum of 40 ramp employees for that operation to become union. It’s in master contract air gateways

40 employees requires at the minimum 2 wide body planes.

Doubt it. FedEx has its own employees to load and unload aircraft, regardless of airport.

FedEx is an airline, UPS is a trucking company.

They have an airline division. I doubt airports can stipulate those type of rules.
