I beg to differ, IMO they fully know it would be disarming the largest militia in the world. That is the goal. What they(whoever) don't understand is they(whomever) would be disarming the largest militia in the world. Who ever tries to outlaw guns, right/left/purple/green, they would be doing a huge disservice to America.
Dave, I know and I understand (at least a little bit) your history with guns and your distaste for them. I don't blame you for your feelings towards them, sweetie. Not in the least. And I am not saying that you have to have them for any reason. All I am saying is that if I choose to have them, for whatever reason, that is my right. The likes of TOS and Klein (and others) would ban guns for reasons based on their prejudices and against my Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. The Constitution does not say we HAVE to keep and bear arms. It is absolutely your right to NOT. Just don't tell me I can't. And don't make up lies (not you specifically) to support your theories about gun control. I believe (correct me if I am wrong) that you, with your military background, understand the need for armament and the protection of our Constitutional rights. I choose to believe that that armament should be extended to the civilian population as well as military and police. That is what the 2nd Amendment is about according to the Supreme Court.Dilli, I also sleep in peace every night with nary a gun in sight. I travel freely and live freely without the worry of having to defend myself. I also do not live in fear.
BB I attached 3 links to my post to Dave. 1 link is just an abbreviated blah blah blah from Wikipedia. The other 2 are a comprehensive look at the 2nd Amendment Rights. There is a lot of information there that seems to be very informative and unambiguous. It is a well documented look at the 2nd Amendment based on historical data including court rulings. Of the 2 links the 2nd one is and 'easy read' version of the first. (HA, not sure about how 'easy' it is).Since we appear close to it anyway, I would like to know what people thing the Second Ammendment means by a "well regulated militia". If it allows people to own all manner of weapon, is it not the pervue of the government to pass gun control laws to "regulate" the militia? Your local National Guardsman can't walk into the local grocery store with a locked-and-loaded M-16, can he? I don't see where the limits of this vague language are.
WOW a gun in san clemente! Must be dangerous in your part of the hood!
Give us abreak. Having a gun and not touching it for 11 years shows there is no need to own it in the first place.
Peace.
Sorry bub, but ill chose to live in peace and quiet. I choose to live in a neighborhood where I dont need to have a gun or sleep with one within 100 miles of one. Ill make the choice to live my life in areas where I dont fear my neighbors, but embrace them as friends.
You all can live in the trenches where you have to live with your head on a swivel and your hands on an ammo clip and a pistol.
I prefer not to be a scaredy cat.
Peace
I keep a small fire extinguisher in the kitchen cabinet next to my stove. I think I bought it 10 or 11 years ago. Havent used it yet. Does than mean I should go ahead and get rid of it?
Are you looking forward to xmas ?
A lot of guns will be put into usage, like every other Christmas.
Most suicides of the year, and most of them done by guns. (easy and quick).
Give me a gunshot over a knife stabbing or a burning bed incident.
Be careful next weekend. The lonely, unemployed, and alcoholics are the first ones to give it a try.
Dang,,,, Klein fits at least 2 of those 3,,,,Give me a gunshot over a knife stabbing or a burning bed incident.

Yeah, I suppose you are right, and the suicide rate would remain the same, if they didn't own a gun.
But, I highly doubt it.
Hey, if it will save one child........
Most suicides, regardless of the method employed, are directly or indirectly related to alcohol or substance abuse.
Alcohol is directly related to far more deaths each year than guns, yet I dont hear the Kliens or the TOS's advocating for stricter controls on alcohol.
How about it? Lets employ the same logic to alcohol that we do to guns. Lets require background checks for every alcohol purchase. Lets require registration of each and every bottle of alcohol, along with requiring child-proof cap locks. Lets prohibit "high capacity" 40-ounce beer bottles that serve no "social drinking purpose". Lets limit sales of alcohol to one bottle per month, with a 3 day waiting period, and require fingerprinting of all alcohol purchasers. Lets require than all bottles of alcohol be locked in a case in the trunk of the car to prevent drinking and driving. All we need are a few "common sense" alcohol laws to protect us from this evil substance. Hey, if it will save one child........
Somewhat, I doubt that. It's a close call though.
I say most suicides are caused by financial stress and relationship problems.
A drunk or druggie would have a very hard time trying to hang up a rope to kill him/herself, or to drive/walk to a bridge (unless ofcourse they had a gun).
