Because for one we want to protect our children from being exposed to it, and two open acceptance of homosexuality is a sure sign of civilization's decadence and decay. Same as the divorce rate, suicide rate, proliferation of pornography, drug usage, and other signs that would come to me later.

No, I don't get up everyday and decide to be straight. Just like, I don't get up everyday and make a conscience decision that I won't lie today or I am not going to fool around with another woman that's not my wife. If and when the opportunity presents itself to do either, then a descion must be made.
For me, the decision to do either is wrong. But, to lie would be easier for me to do ( less of a temptation) than to commit adultery.
To commit a homosexual act is no temptation for me at all. For @Wrong, I understand why that's not true for him. He thinks nothing about it. A decision whether it's right or not does not even enter into his choice. Just like for him (assuming), there is no temptation to be with a woman.
All of us are different. What is difficult for one person to do( right and wrong) another person does what is right without flinching.
The measure of what is right and wrong is not measured by the degree of difficulty for the individual. If it's really hard for someone not to commit adultery , and they still commit adultery , they don't get a free pass because it was really hard for them not to.
Just because something feels right and natural is not the standard of what is right.
