Amazon.com Inc., which last month briefly joined the elite club alongside Apple of claiming market capitalization of $1 trillion, will now pay its workers a minimum wage of $15 per hour.
The increase covers its 250,000 U.S. full-time, part-time and temporary employees and its over 100,000 seasonal U.S. workers, as of Nov. 1, the company said Tuesday.
“We listened to our critics, thought hard about what we wanted to do, and decided we want to lead,” said Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder and CEO.
