Was wondering how this process works. I am in the teamster ups/ibt pension plan.

Actually I have contacted team care. My issue is whether I can receive retiree healthcare at 52. I am in the Atlantic supplement and have been told by the local union hall that I am not eligible to receive retiree health care till 55. I found this on the team care website. Which contradicts what I am being told.
If the above requirements are met, the individuals in (A), (B) and (C) below, will be eligible for this Plan effective on his/her 55th birthday:
(A) Full-time UPS Freight Covered Participants;
(B) Except as noted in (6) below, full-time UPS Package Covered Participants who were covered under TeamCare Active Plan U2 or by the UPS Central Region Supplement in Local Unions 0007, 0020, 0040, 0089, 0090, 0164, 0215, 0236, 0243, 0328, 0332, 0339, 0377, 0406, 0455, 0486, 0554, 0580, 0688, 0908, and 0957; and
(C) All UPS employees hired after August 1, 2013.
(6) If the requirements in (a)(1),(2) and (3) above are met, any member hired before August 1, 2013 who is a full-time UPS Package Covered Participant not covered by the UPS Central Region Supplement in Local Unions 0007, 0020, 0040, 0089, 0090, 0164, 0215, 0236, 0243, 0328, 0332, 0339, 0377, 0406, 0455, 0486, 0554, 0580, 0688, 0908, and 0957, will be eligible for this Plan effective on his/her 52nd birthday.

That’s why

Altho I was So-Cal, I was told on the day you retire if you are not of contractual age you "DO NOT" get coverage even when you turn the contractual agreed upon number of age after the fact. Years of service and age for insurance purposes meant they had to coincide for the peer 80. Guys who started at 18, still had to wait till 50 to receive health benefits. AGAIN different Teamster region then others, so yours may vary! My Health Care comes from UPS not Teamcare.

Hope you get it figured out! DONT retire till you have it in writing!

Thanks for the info.
I agree with shiftless.

we did a lot of homework before retiring. also when we called the pension people they sent us a huge booklet with all the info about retiring and all the different options and scenarios.

this was in the Western states region. every region is different.

Like Shiftless says, check into it for your specific area. His example is me...started at 18, PEER 80. Retired at 49. Difference is, I'm in NorCal, and have zero cost healthcare for me and spouse. So everywhere you go, it's completely different.
