Is it possible to go back to part time?

Don't give up, you will regret this forever.

Ask your mother I bet she will say the same thing
And to add to this. Normally yes my mother would have a heart attack if I ever brought up quitting ups. Not just my mother but any other family member.
That is, until they saw the money I’ve been making, and contracts I’ve been landing.

I realize what I’m leaving. But, I became a licensed state contractor and started a construction company over a year ago. Invested in some construction equipment, and more equipment on the way. Taught myself how to operate said equipment. My company has grown exponentially in the last few months. I am making dramatically more money with my grading company.

im 36. I’m in my last couple years to start a new career. I appreciate what the teamsters and ups have done for me. But it’s time to move on.

just need the benefits for my kids. Although if my company keeps moving in the same direction it is now. I will purchase my own plan.
Maybe try doing contract Jon's on the weekend until you see how this pans out?
FYI healthcare isn't cheap.
Good luck wherever you decide

Sounds like it has become much more then a weekend job. You are at the perfect age to start your own business. Old enough to be responsible and young enough to handle the physical and mental labor.

I read your thread yesterday and was going to comment. But, wanted to see where it went.

That's a fair and respectful statement. (and you put the Teamsters first )

Only you can determine your destiny. If UPS isn't cutting it.... hey, life is too short.

Just be smart about it.

That's awesome. With trying to balance this job with a personal life, it can be nearly impossible to start a business. Takes dedication and a supportive family. Very admirable.

I have been lurking

Tired hubrat
I might just have to quit. Trying to hold out for my wife to get her part time job back at the school district so we have health benefits. Gotta be responsible when you have kids. I’d also like to go to feeder to get my CDL. But if that doesn’t happen before my wife gets her job back, no big deal.

I have 16 years in this company. Over the past couple years I’ve grown to hate it. With a passion. I want out.
INJURY! And with 16 years you can get a slide position too. 6 hours

As for your original question, the only other way, besides ADA, is to quit and reapply. You would lose seniority, and would have to wait the nine months to get benefits back again. It couldn't hurt to ask if you could go back without interrupting your employment with the company. For that to be copacetic re: the contract, you would still have to go to the bottom of seniority, but you might be able to keep benefits and top rate.

I would start by talking it out with your local, then approach management. Be honest about your reasons, but maybe not your feelings:wink2:.

I wonder how many people UPS would lose if there were a national healthcare plan. I bet it would be significant.
I wouldn’t leave at that point. Communists would be controlling the government and the economy would be on the brink of collapse.
"(h) In the event that there is any change in the existing national health care legislation or if new legislation is enacted, the parties agree to meet and discuss any ramifications of that legislation on the provisions of this Article."

even if we get reimbursed with higher wages around the same rate as our health insurance, the tax hikes would eat that away. We’d still lose with nationalized health insurance.

It's literally better in every way. The only reason for the sticker shock is because nobody wanted to (even today) deal with the backlog of undiagnosed conditions in our younger population, in addition to Obama's plan being weak as hell and paid out way too much back towards wall street.

Our demands should stick towards working conditions and time off, the nation should collectively deal with wages/healthcare in time.

UPS Vacation
As the title states, can a rpcd go back to part time. Asking for a friend.
Tell your center manager you'd like the 1-800# to the corporate nurse to discuss mental health issues. Sometimes it's an I.E. gal or an Operation Managers spouse fielding the calls. That's besides the point, laying it on thick the job is tearing you up and have proof you're a solid employee and preloader Peter has been on the signup sheet to go driving for 2-years and you'd like to swap Pete jobs.... maybe some lip quivering tears and cracked voice.

I have seen many, many employee use this style to get their jobs back or not be fired or moved on to an easier job.

Don't get demanding or gruff. Even if they turn you down.... or you're screwed. If they do say no.... we don't let hourlies or salaries go from full-time to part-time. Be polite, be understanding and ask the "nurse" what other options do you have?

UPS can change the rules at the drop of a stylus.

If you get lucky & they work a deal with you....don't expect your $39.15 an hour wage coming in 10-days. However, see if they can drop you to new hire wage with 16-years time served pro rated so you can maybe be in the $20+ area an hour. In fact, might be better to make that request/call after August 1st.

On a safety note; Stay hydrated! These guys are nofans/no ac Nazis!

"NO FAN, for YOU!"
