Here's a thought...why don't UPS keep the surepost and hire SSD/PVDs to deliver that volume year round. Will be much cheaper than hiring full time drivers and benefits. Making the company prosper more and build the pensions.

The in-town routes are just barely keeping their heads above water but the country routes are completely and totally ed. A driver I know had 230 stops and 200 miles yesterday with an RTB of 1:15am this morning.

I expect that to be my route next week. Very little volume coming out of DFW right now.

They will hire just enough drivers to make sure they can give drivers dives and distribute volume in a way that very few will get paid. Same they do now.
