Yeah, that's it.

UPS cares deeply for those poor souls on unemployment.

And UPS decided they've screwed the union enough by subcontracting so now they'll pump up dues.

You and Wally need to form a business consulting service.
They dont care but im sure are getting a incentive from sloppy joe. The union agreed because they get more dues. Saves ups money from paying long-term employees overtime vs newer employees

Please provide some facts. I didn't think so.
The union agreed because they get more dues.
The union can't stop the MRA scheme. In actual, pesky fact, the union has challenged the MRA pay disparity issue on multiple occasions at multiple levels, including arbitration, unfortunately without success.

If you are upset with dues increases, propose no wage increase in the next contract. Bet you'll have lots of support.

With benefit costs, its cheaper to pay overtime than to have additional employees.

Wages are going up because many were getting fat unemployment bonuses. No need to work right now.

You flood the market with illegal's and guaranteed wages will trend downward.

Illegal's hurt the regular working folk including the union worker.
UPS is raising wages because illegals are flooding the labor market driving wages down. Okay then.

seems to me anyone on day sort hired before 2019 and not seeing this raise has a right to it...

Chicago Area Wage Adjustment for
Part Time Employees
In light of the Market Rate Adjustment (“MRA”)
program in the Chicagoland area, and in order to ensure
compliance with the ever-changing requirements of Cook
County and the City of Chicago, United Parcel Service, Inc.
and Teamsters Local 705 agree to apply Article 22.5 of the
Teamsters Local 705 and United Parcel Service Agreement
as follows:
Seniority employees as of Date of Ratification (“affected
employees”) whose hourly wage rate is less than $15.00 per
hour, will have their hourly wage rates converted to $15.00
an hour. Such wage rate conversions will be prospectively
effective January 21, 2019, which is the planned expiration
date of the current MRAs.
General wage increases will not be applied until August
1, 2021.
In the event future MRAs are applied to any part time
employee whose wage rate did not increase as a result of this
LOA, those MRAs will not result in such new employees
receiving an MRA hourly rate that exceeds the rate paid to
the affected employees. If economic conditions change, the
Parties agree to meet and discuss the need for changes to this LOA.

I personally know people who have been on unemployment for over a year, still getting unemployment benefits, and still dont have to prove theyre looking for work.

yeah people have gotten so used to not working they will do whatever they can to stay on it. It’s going to be hell when they have to go back.
