The smartest thing that anyone can do that is out on worker's comp is to read the law for the state they are in.
Here, once you have seen a Dr twice for the condition, that Dr becomes the Dr of record. That means, if you have the initial consultation and then follow-up the next day with the UPS Dr, in my state, that Dr would be the Dr of record and his/her diagnosis and treatment will be what the company demands.
Also, if you have your own Dr as the Dr of record, you can be required to see the company Dr for their own records. Once the company demands you see their Dr, that is the time to get an attorney, as they are looking to fight the case.
Consulting an attorney, even if things are going well is smart. The attorney will give you advice on things that the average person may not think of. Remember, management has had training on how to deal with WC cases, for the most part, we have not.
