It wouldn't take a MIT graduate to design a lock that would work with a fob for the barn doors. You would double click, the mechanism would release the rear lock and allow you to turn the handle of the door as if the key were in it.
If it could've been done, it would've been done no matter what the expense. Step over a dollar to pick up a nickel.

How would that even be possible?

Mount the solenoid coil on the inside of the door itself to actuate the little latch that unlocks the door. Might have to remove or modify the plate covering the locks, but it wouldn't be that much more difficult than how they modified the bulkhead locks.
