ive done christmas shopping while on break,picked up car parts,bottled water for the center,etc. i cant begin to remember what all.unless your not coding the time{if personal}i dont see an issue.you should get your job back unless their is something we havent heard.

There is always something we haven't heard.

... try not to stress too much. Would you accept a time served suspension at the local hearing? There's no way a self respecting labor manager, given the facts you've stated would take this to a panel. Way too much exposure for the company (back pay wise), unless he thought it could go all the way to the national deadlock panel and possibly mediation. Such a ***** way to treat a service provider busting his butt in the sweltering heat! Send me your paypal I'm buying you a beer!

You go ahead and keep doing that and pray they don't get pissed off at you for something or are seen removing and putting in your car an item by a visiting upper manager;

Let me repeat myself; if your transporting anything personal that doesn't have a paid for 1z bar code sticker and that item is yours (lunch/newspaper is not included) then your stealing services period.

What is the purpose of the vehicle and your job?

Answer that question an arbitrator will ask you.

Cut and dry.

Nothing in the contract or UPS stated policy that's posted in every center says you can use there vehicle for personal use. Please someone tell me you understands this?

If you're going to repeat yourself in bold, make sure you know the difference between your and you're. :smart: Also, if there is a documented past practice of doing this in his building, he should be back to work soon enough. I've recieved messages on the DIAD from the OMS to pick items up for mgmt. or other drivers etc... on my route. Nothing like having an electronic record to CYA in this company.

You're being ridiculous. I work at a fairly large building and this is so common that we even have a procedure in place for it whereby your supervisor or OMS will write out a property pass for anything you picked up on route to show the guard at the gate. Assuming the OP is telling the whole story, there is absolutely nothing wrong with what he did.

Don't you guys get it? you cant get free shipping it's that simple.
Free shipping would be actually shipping something through the UPS system without paying for it, for instance by filling out an ASD with a bogus shipping number and slipping it in with your pickup pieces. People get fired for that and rightly so. Buying something on your lunch break and bringing it back to the building with you is not "free shipping".

Following the Xprez way of thinking.....I guess carrying my water cooler into the center and on to the truck with me would result in me getting terminated as well. LOL! I mean....I end up transporting my cooler from the center back....uh......back to the center for free so I'd be canned for sure. :biting: So I guess stopping at my own vehicle to pick up the same cooler is even worse because I'd be stealing time as well as transporting items (from my own vehicle back to my own vehicle) for free. Ha ha!

You gotta love posters like Xprez. All knowing, yet, amazingly easy to discredit.

I can't tell you how many times over my career I brought something back for a fellow driver or manager. Or myself for that matter. Heck I even brought in a deer once. Yeah a real live deer. Well it wasn't alive. Customer had shot it bow hunting that afternoon. Picked it up after my last pickup of the day. And I followed proper procedure. Pulled into the building, unloaded my send agains and then called over my on car sup to escort me out to the parking lot to load it into my pickup. Granted the on car sup and I went back aways, I took him under my wing when he first started as a driver. And he did quick close the bulkhead door and said "Let's get out of here." Ahh, the old days.

You can claim drinking water is a safety issue.If you go to your personal car after start time you should be on break same with return to building. I'm not saying it don't happen but if the company wants to press the issue they can.Dont listen to me,but when your out of work for a month like this guy it hurts.Back pay very rare at panels only a few of the cases I seen.

Do they sell retail because you can buy something and bring it back if you did it on break. If they only ship packages then you got free shipping.You will get your job back all time served suspension or labor will offer you same deal before panel.whats you ba say?

Big arrow I've been in operations almost as long as you been alive.Sat on panels,arbitrations and was vice president and president of local. Was present for over 250 ups discharge cases and seen and heard it all.Go ahead come to a panel and be a hard ass and watch the company dig in and deadlock it to the jac and you will be out 3 more months
