I drive.
It's hard for me to get in their mindset. I'm not wired that way. I just hope every last one of them is doxxed and shamed and suffer social consequences for so openly advertising their hateful point of view.

Not every person at that event were rioters or insurrectionists or cop killers or klansmen or terrorists, to be totally fair. But some were. And those that were should pay dearly with their liberty and social standing.

"Through the Trump years, a line of distinguished commentators has argued that Trump is simply too much of a buffoon and a maroon to do any real harm. The January 6 plan was indeed buffoonish and moronic. Even supposing the crowd had succeeded in intimidating Pence into rejecting the certified returns, his ruling would not have been sustained. Joe Biden would still become president at noon on January 20.

But an idiotic, futile coup attempt can nonetheless get people killed. Five people died. That number could easily have been much higher. Members of Congress could have been among them. Pence could have been among them."

The problem is that those people are welcome at a trump rally. that tells you something about trump rallies and the people who attend them.

Indeed. My dad went to a rally back in 2016 out of curiosity and watched the animal spirits in that room turn extremely dark. He predicted right then and there that there would be political violence. He told me the other day that he's surprised it's not worse, but that it could only be the beginning.

The biggest problem I have with doxing anyone is the fallout usually spreads to innocent family.

Despite the efforts of others to downplay the carnage or compare it to past events they can't. This was a stand alone moment in the history of this nation. As one congresswoman pointed out. "We were trapped in the House chamber. What if they had automatic weapons? It would have been a mass casualty event".

The people who were there on Wednesday were not Republican supporters in the sense of traditional Republican politics. They were Trump supporters. Supporters of an aspiring despotic dictator. If the GOP will not remove Trump from office the damage to the party will be catastrophic

This thing has been brewing for a while amongst republican voters. I don’t know what’s gonna stop it because the deeper causes for why this is happening will be very difficult to change, but an important cause is their rejection of any media that is critical of any republican as somehow false or a media out to get them. Like according to them trump has done nothing wrong in office, but tweet to much and use inappropriate language sometimes. What can you say to someone with that level of delusion about trump’s performance as potus.

But traditional Republican politics like the ones practiced by a Dwight D Eisenhower or Mitt Rmoney’s father have not been a thing in Republican politics since the 1960’s. Since then traditional Republican governance has given way to this conspiratorial mindset and a set of plutocratic economic policies, and an approach to governance that doesn’t acknowledge our shared fate as Americans and seeks to destroy our common public services.

Spot on. You have to wonder how many of those Trumplicans used their COVID relief money to buy their gas to make the trip? You heard many of them say. "we're here to take back our government!" But none of them said anything about what they were going to do with it once they did take it back outside of giving the Trump family what it wanted, absolute rule. Powerful to be handed down from father to son. So what would you have then?..... Syria.

As the video proves conclusively, those people were there to literally hang Mike pence and Nancy Pelosi and had gallows set up outside to do just that.

In the next couple of days Mike Pence will have to show his cards. Either he possesses true leadership courage and worthy of consideration for the oval office or that he's simply a spineless political hack.
