Despite the efforts of others to downplay the carnage or compare it to past events they can't. This was a stand alone moment in the history of this nation. As one congresswoman pointed out. "We were trapped in the House chamber. What if they had automatic weapons? It would have been a mass casualty event".

The people who were there on Wednesday were not Republican supporters in the sense of traditional Republican politics. They were Trump supporters. Supporters of an aspiring despotic dictator. If the GOP will not remove Trump from office the damage to the party will be catastrophic
What if? Always what if. Didn't happen. That's why, while bad, it wasn't comparable to last summer's riots that the Dems constantly downplay.

Tell me something. What other act in recent US rises to the level of criminality equal to that which occurred last Wednesday?
The race riots which you people keep pointlessly going back to because that's all you've got doesn't even begin to approach the level.

You mean the riots where about 30 people were killed and thousands injured? Billions in damage? Those riots? And you never replied to me pointing out the 1954 Puerto Rican terrorist attack on Congress when you said nothing like this has happened since the War of 1812. Know your history or be doomed to repeat it.

Look at what I said...."the level of criminality". You can search through all the history books you want but there is simply no way you can equate it with anything else especially when the president himself is complicit . No he will not likely be charged until after he leaves office and he will leave office so as to prevent him from pardoning himself.

The level of criminality? Thousands burning and looting and beating, killing doesn't qualify? You and I know why you won't admit this...the Dems supported it, pure and simple. It seems to escape you that after four+ years of trying to get rid of Trump, with the MSM so blatantly taking sides, that people don't trust the election process and their anger boiled over. Throw in Democratic governor shutdowns that haven't proved effective and are destroying small businesses and you've got a perfect recipe for rage. All that matters to you is characterizing these people as rubes, idiots, easily led by insurrectionists. You don't get that people want the three years of financial growth Trump had, not politicians taking advantage of a virus to get more and more authoritarian. And as they learn more about what Democrats and foreign leaders are pushing for on a worldwide basis the revolts are going to make what happened at the Capitol look like a picnic. You reap what you sow.

President Wilson granted citizenship to Puerto Rico in 1917 , only so he could draft them for military service.
