As UPS is heading towards centralized leadership, a person who new centralized government doesn't work has died. Margaret Thatcher knew privatization was key to keeping people performing at their
best and keeping incentives alive. Maybe the Politburo in Atlanta will take notice.

Limp,

It would be much more important if Washington DC would take notice. Corporations always have and always will be controlled top down.

Agreed, but when my manager can't add more trip to a plan that was handed him, is top down control working?

Thatcher made her bones by crushing the unions, the miner's union in particular. I'm not sure that's the message you want the "Politburo in Atlanta" to take notice of.

Apples and oranges. The Coal Miners were a public union, similiar to the teachers union here. UPS workers are not,
being positioned to benefit from the profitable company they work for.

It may be apples and oranges to you, but I can assure you it's not that way to the anti-union crowd. You really think the folks in Atlanta care about that distinction? To them a union is a union and they're all bad for business.

If UPS had a magic wand, do you think they would totally eliminate all their unions? Jim Casey himself invited the
Teamsters to represent his drivers.

It is interesting that despite this her country thrived as a result of her leadership.

Another great light in the world has been extinguished. :(

Maggie at lunch one day took a Cruiser, apparently to make them give it back."

I always thought it was kind of crappy that we didnt help out our British cousins when they had to sail down to the Falklands and kick the Argies out.

We could have easily sent a couple of aircraft carriers along to provide air cover for their invasion fleet. The war would have ended a lot quicker and the British wouldnt have lost any ships. They were outnumbered 4 to 1 in terms of aircraft by the Argentinians, but with a couple of our carriers backing them up that disadvantage would have been totally negated and many lives would have been saved.

In one simple paragraph, please explain exactly why you call Reagan trash.
We're friends, enlighten me. Please.
anti worker. he didnt shrink govt he shifted more resources to the wealthy ie socialism for htem and market discipline for 7 year olds. trickle down economics. union rate fell like crazy. he was a corporate mascot. i think the campaign of deregulation really began under him. his admin told the big business theyre not going to apply labour laws. i think the savings and loan crisis was a result of his policies too. he was a big con artist, and people ate it up and continue to do so. most politicians are mediocre or venal. ill let you figure out which one reagan was. although i think modern day presidents like obama, bush and trump are worse.
