Massive Waste of Teamster's Dues Money Goes Unpunished

I agree. Charges should be a last resort.
Be sometimes necessary...
unfortunately.

It's their right to do so, but most are without merit.

I've had them filed on me personally.... twice. Both were discharge cases.

Fortunately, I was educated by knowledgeable and experienced officers.

Documentation is the key, and hey.... I didn't tell them to do what they did.

The only thing that bothered me about it, was the waste of the Locals' money.

I got that. But realistically the NLRB will go after the company's transgressions more aggressively that the union's because as they've stated to us, we have an opportunity to vote our reps in and out but it's not the case with the company supes.

Either way, the labor charges, even if found "without merit" is a wake up call for some not so loyal BAs and if the BA knows they're going to answer legal questions about what they did or failed to do it creates visibility.

There's only one thing worse than an uninformed member who may be one sighted in their thinking (and a candidate for discipline) and that's a two faced BA. The BA's actions affect many whereas the member only (typically) screws themselves.

The NLRB really only seems to regulate or mediate Company and Union representative relationships.

How many "charges" did you file, before realizing this ?

I'm not sure.... how you think I could offer a "blanket statement". ?

Please explain that question.

Probably the easiest way to put this is....

There is a higher degree of culpability on the company ?

I'm just a truck driver.

Roger that.

It's funny....

How many "members" will tout their educational experience.

And somehow, think.... that translates into real world Teamster experience.

The ballot box is always open on Election Day.

Muscle up, or shut up.

Thanks.
We always muscle up.
Our effort last time fell short by one vote.
We don't give up fighting for our rights and
not much important in life comes easy, cheap, or without some sacrifice.
That's leadership in my book.

When the NLRB said unfortunately this is common with the Teamsters and Longshoremen. Not all Unions operate like this and it’s unfortunate we don’t have many options to choose a different union to represent us

I hope you are not insinuating my Labor charges pertain to disciplinary action by the company against me.

Iv been with UPS for apx 23 years with an immaculate record.

I was an elected shop steward

It was when I decided to run for office (close to winning) that I was no longer recognized as a steward then mysteriously all my grievances got lost or didn’t hold merrit

When the NLRB told me that a BA can loose all his cases and not be held accountable, is when I knew the system was a joke.
She explained to me that it’s not illegal to SUCK!
It is however illegal to SUCK on purpose but proving that is really hard to do especially when they use high price attorneys to protect them (using my union dues)

This is absolute truth brother.
Been there done that and that's not unusual as some people would like to say it is.

To those that care this situation is very frustrating. Basically you have two choices, keep hitting it hard and build a coalition of people that are sick of it as well... Which may not be as easy since only 10 to 18% of membership actually vote on an average... But some people have the heart to keep trying.

Be true to your convictions because you're here only once and whether you win or lose what really matters is that you tried to make a difference for your coworkers.
