Missing Sub

I heard somewhere they knew a problem was gonna happen cuz they dumped all the ballast? IE, the ballast was found away from the sub?

“Cameron has revealed that he knew top secret US Navy listening devices had detected an implosion near the search site on Monday, days before it was confirmed by defence officials.

He added that he had heard from “the community” that the Titan had dropped its ascent weights and was “trying to manage an emergency” when the implosion occurred.

“They probably had a warning that their hull was starting to delaminating and the hull was starting to crack,” Cameron told ABC News in an interview on Thursday.“

Carbon fiber hull probably had stress fractures causing sudden catastrophic failure.

The weakness of carbon fiber. One crack and you're done.
The talk on the radio the last two nights has been the strength of carbon fiber is resistance to stretching, and a submarine needs resistance to compression. I'm not a mathmetologist so I can't show you why, but some aerophysicist was talking about it. All I could think is like, "you're a :censored2:ing rocket scientist, wtf do you know about submarines? IDIOT!".....but thats what I heard anyway.

Yesss and the cracks in our civilization are showing too, and yet we dive deeper at our own peril

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.
I wonder if it was closely examined after every dive and what the expected service life would be.
It was a dangerous combo having two different elements like that. I don’t think they checked it or could. They relied on sensors. If you get a warning while submerged, it’s too late.

Yep. Sounds like most, if not all certified deep-sea submersibles have single-piece titanium hulls. Relying instead on proper adhesion and seals between different parts sounds like a bad idea at 6,000 psi.

cutting holes in carbon fiber like for windows creates a ticking time bomb.
