The people better get whoever they pick to be candidate or there'll be hell to pay!!

"hell to pay" ???

From who? YOU??

As if the GOP cares what YOU or anyone else thinks. They are all corporate shills. All those people donating checks for millions of dollars, THATS who the GOP cares about, surely not YOU and the seniors in the senior center.

Interesting that Romney pulled this after Super Tuesday where Trump won 7 states against 4 competitors and Romney won 6 against 2 competitors in 2012.

last ditch desperate attempt by the republican old guard to hang on to their power base. Rubio has sold his soul to the devil and is now the old guards point man. Their house is caving in on them.

Exactly. He tore apart Trump in this one speech more than he did Obama during the whole campaign combined. That's why he lost. It's one reason why McCain lost.

if todays old guard republican party would attack the democrats like they do trump the democrats would have no chance.

Sadly they're positioned to feel like they will be called racists for calling out Obama or sexist for calling out Clinton. And yes, the leftist media will follow through with that criticism but at the same time you alienate your base of supporters who see you as weak and timid.

This is a big reason as to why Trump resonates. You know he's going to unload on Clinton with no fear while a Kasich would likely tip toe around her if he were nominated.

This election and the last one makes it pretty clear the GOP has no direction at all. Even it's voters don't seem to know what they want.

The issue is that the GOP has many factions. This the reality of a party made up of many free thinking people who believe in many different things. Only problem is it creates difficulties within a party that needs some sort of unity to more effectively win.

The GOP started with 17 different candidates all occupying a distinct lane. As an example, Trump happens to be a unique oddity thrown into the bunch. A character that will never be duplicated again. He's a populist nationalist, a rare lane in the party grabbing a lot of interest. There's no mystery why he conflicts with most of the party. Nevertheless, he does represent a faction and is legitimate regardless of whether the establishment or even the conservatives like it or not.

Trump isn't a faction, or a lane, or whatever you want to call it. He's making it up as he goes, and he'll say whatever he thinks will get him to the white house.

But either way the Republican party's problems run far deeper than that reality show. These problems existed before Trump, and they'll still be there when the nomination is stolen from him at the convention.

It may be true that he is opportunistic and may say a lot to reach that goal. That can be said to most candidates. Hillary, never mind Bernie, is promising the world to each constituent.

He is neither Republican nor Democrat. He is the very definition of an independent but knows you can't win as one. He has no solid ideology. He has some beliefs but really not firm on anything. Whatever gets the job done has been his way his whole career. He's identified hot button issues and taken a populist approach on many of these. You can believe it or not, but a true majority of Americans are sick and tired of the illegal immigration problem which catapulted him.

Sadly populism, left or right, seems to be becoming the easiest path to victory these days. Obama had his brand of populism. It's the nature of the culture.

I agree, it's sad.
