Did you ask for next Monday off?
Depending on the quality of your relationship with your management team one could call back in a reasonable amount of time. If you're scheduled off then stick to your guns and don't go in, but call. The reason I say this is if you burn the bridge then when you call to get a day off or another favor they might wait until the end of the day on you also. One trick is to have a spouse call back. They can get the info and tell of your inability to come in without the pressure from mgmt.
Be be careful with the "I've been drinking" excuse. Use it and a hardass center manager will have someone waiting to talk to you about your perceived alcoholism as he pulls you from service until YOU can prove your ok. I've seen it happen. Once in pkg and twice in feeder.
Yesterday at I got a phone call at 130am asking me to come in early. Ok, $100 is enough motivation. But when I got to work I informed the new specialist that called to do so at a reasonable hour as he was lucky I caught it on first ring rather than it wake my wife who would have ripped him a new one up to his ears.
On the flip side of that coin, I got a call while on vaca, to cover an air route, & told them I already had 2 beers
(really hadn't). Supe said "don't stop now, have 1 for me".
And mt wife's the same way, she scares the **** out of me sometimes.
Nice!! I've got me one of those too! It's more the "I'm three beers in" on a weds scheduled off day at 9am that'll raise a flag to the wrong person.
Way back in the day I had a "tough guy" sup call on a day that I had called in earlier sick because " he had to have me come in, short handed, blah blah". My wife replied that I had called in sick and was unavailable. The sup made the mistake of changing the "tone of his voice" when he reiterated his demands to which she cut him off with " Who the friend do you think you're talking to?" and it only got worse from there. When I got back to work the sup gave an envelope addressed to my wife with a handwritten apology in it.
Taking an optional holiday today .
Do not know if they have the Customer Counter covered , so I suspect the calls to be coming starting just after noon when someone notices I'm not there .
So sorry , but I have this doctor to go see to today . He is the replacement for my GI doctor , and I really need to see him to get a new prescription .

It's NONE of their Business what you do on a wednesday at nine A.M. When OFF the clock......"I'm Having UNPROTECTED SEX with a Loose woman" You think that will raise a red flag?---Bro I don't know you, and don't mean to sound like I'm picking on you but these people don't give a flying friend about you(or me) It's all about putting AZZES in those driver seats! Your kind of thinking only gives them the Idea they can pull this crap on others and get away with it...SMHIt's more the "I'm three beers in" on a weds scheduled off day at 9am that'll raise a flag to the wrong person.
"another favor"...."your relationship with management"..."have my spouse call in"...are you friend'ing serious? That is disgusting!
As for a "hardass center manager" talking to me about my perceived alcoholism and pulling me from service...go for it..and drug test me everyday on the clock...if not it's back pay! People really need to stop begging for the crumbs these fools throw at Them..and know your rights and DEMAND them every day! If the hard ass wanted too, whats stopping him from saying,"I smelled alcohol on your breath this morning..do you have a problem.....SUCKING his JOHNSON aint gonna stop that kinda behavior from a SNAKE in the GRASS! It will just leave a nasty taste in your mouth!

It must suck going through life with so much animosity and carrying those heavy chips on your shoulders.
I think someone wrote that they don't go through life retaliating for every sideways look or mutter someone made under their breath. Maybe we should start a forum for all the "Tough Guys" to show how crude and tough they can pretend to be.
