I wanted to stay engaged with this thread, but there are long posts that I don't want to read.
Here's DOL's POV: Regardless if one is Unionized or not...just do your part to make the Company that You work for successful. There are probably quite a few things that do not work as one would expect, but we're all trying to get the job done. I, for one, want to have a happy day at work!

I have been holding my breath hoping for the buyout, but I'm two stripes short and 6 years young.... I was hoping to start my own porn buisness with the buyout money.....

Dear Mr. Socks,

As I am new to this forum, I will take it easy on you.

I do have coments on your posts.

First. Any Teamster member that reads this , stop being brain washed.

You are all simply "numbers" , do not ,ever, beleive they care. THEY DON'T.

No offence, part time out. Full time in!

Go see your steward.

They are not paid, but they care.

I am lied to every day in my job at UPS by management.

I have been a steward for 20 years.

They want production, sales leads , no late air , .

The people in charge of this company, which could be a true mastermind

of the couier buisiness, is being oparated by promoted car washers.

Hi Mr. Flowers.

We have a saying......

Didnt care yesterday...

Y care today.

As for you Mr. Socks Id grieve this. If you are a sup, no friend here.

Oh, and, was wondering..? were all the managers sent their new , big floppy shoes and bid red noses?

more to follow........ have a nice day take your lunch break ,these are not your packages.

Not the stork. As everyone knows the personality I portray on here is one that everyone hates. I take things to the extreme and stereotype the Teamsters. To be honest in my time at UPS I have met thousands of people, some good, and some bad. I have had so many employees, all of which I know by their first name, by the way. Most of them were good people just trying to get by and provide for their families, and for that I need to stop the teamster, as a group, bashing. There has always been that small percent though, that always thought UPS owed them something. There has always been that small percent that took pride in giving management a hard time. I see and hear union employees pick on supervisors that are young enough to be their children. I see grown men laughing and mocking management when things go wrong at work. Yet union workers still want, want, and want. If someone wanted something from me, I wouldn’t give it to them unless they cared about me. If something happened at work, like a belt ripping, how many people would rush to the damaged belt that transports the packages that keep you employed to help, and how many of you would sit back and laugh. Sometimes I think that because UPS is mostly part time help that people are just immature and our workforce is immature because, the mature people have full time real jobs. Another part of me thinks that there is a greater good in every person. The union is a great thing to have and at times I wished I had one. Remember one thing though, if the doors close at UPS tomorrow, your union wouldn’t be any worth to you for long. So when you act, ask yourself if you’re doing the right thing. Ask yourself if the supervisor that was doing bargaining work for five minutes is worth a grievance or a simple one on one talk with, man to man.

The other thing, when I found out about the turkeys I was devastated. Now obviously I couldn’t buy everyone a turkey but I put out a nice spread out of my own pocket for all my employees. Management and Union sat together and ate as much food as they could in 15 minutes. It was like the pilgrims and Indians. We worked things out and that night alone made the company a better place. I still will continue to target the “union heads” that are only in it for themselves. I still will continue to correct people I believe that are wrong. I would like to say to the good people of UPS, the people that care about the company and its future…… Thank You…

And your management team promotes the ones that aren't worth a damn.

In any case, your statement is incorrect.

The union "protects" no one. Your company entered into a labor agreement that defines the process to be followed when disciplining an employee. The role of the union is merely to see that the process is followed.

Dear soberups,

I agree with your statement, however some of the rank and file, shop stewards and Union officials do abuse the process you mention that gives the perception that all the union is good for is protecting bad workers, even if this perception is wrong.

Integrity needs to be welcome when handling union issues and improving these flaws that have poisoned some people against unions, this is to often not the case.

UPS Policy on Labor Unions and collective bargaining agreements is clear, all Union members should know this policy and expect the management of UPS to adhere to this. This should be in addition to knowing and studying the collective bargaining agreement relevant to their resposibilities. You can find this policy in the current UPS Policy Book on page 24.

Sincerely,
I

In any organization or institution...be it UPS, the NBA, McDonalds, or whatever.....5% of the people simply arent worth a damn.

The Teamsters are no exception. UPS management is no exception.

How we deal with that inevitable 5% in our daily lives makes the difference between sanity and chaos, between success and failure.

Taking our frustrations out on the remaining 95% isnt the solution. At times, I have probably been as guilty of this as anyone else. Its an easy trap to fall into.

Sober, I agree with you one hundred percent. In any organization, around 95% of the people are good people. I see you include UPS management overall in this. Many of you brothers on this site are unable to do so.

Just out of curiosity, I would ask if you are able to go that one extra step, a personal stretch for you, and say that specifically about the IE organization. Can you type it with a straight face? :happy2:

Ok, you got me on that one. I will say it. 95% of the IE people are also good people. Apparently, they send the 5% who arent to do all the timestudies here in Oregon.:happy2:

The union is alot like the catholic church, they don't care what's going on, just as long as when they pass the basket around people are filling it up.
Dear Mr. UPSSOCKS,
This is crazy. You have fallen off your perch. Please get back up there and direct your charges.

I don't have any sups anymore. It's very lonely where I am now..

I have it on good authority that Socks is now on "special assignment."

He has been placed in charge of auditing excess paperclip usage in Fargo, North Dakota. Those guys have been running at .03% over their Corporate allotment, and UPSSOCKS is just the guy they need to go in there and kick some ass and get to the bottom of the situation.

Lets all wish SOCKS success in this new phase of his career!
