Inordinately Right
You’re retired and want to act like you’re important, let UPS go, start a new life for yourself.
He's started four troll threads today.

It's Father's Day.
He's old, alone, with no kids.

Honestly, he's probably really butt hurt about his life right now. If this is what it takes for him to keep from hanging himself then so be it.

True or not, they say to always take the raise over the bonus, since the raise is forever. And $5,000 bonus turns into a $2,500 check, $2,000 bonus is $1,000 check, etc.

It's easy math too... a $1 raise for a PTer that works a mere 20 hours a week is about an extra $1k a year. So that's like 2-3k a year for a fulltimer. So over the life of the contract, you'll get that entire bonus and then some, even the part timers because most of them work more than 20 hours a week. Anyone that takes a bonus over a raise is either only planning on being here for a few (more) years or is dumb. On the plus side, the people only planning on being here for a few years aren't likely to vote anyways.

Rumored 6 year deal.

With OT, full timer...
$1 more per hour = $12,500 over the 6 years. That is the value of just one yearly raise.

$12,500 first year raise
$10,000 second year
$7,500 third year
$5,000 forth year
$2,500 Fifth year

So how much of a bonus is worth a contact that gives substandard raises? Not to mention that bonus checks in leu of raises sets a lower hourly rate to build from the next contract.

A $40,000 bonus check with no raises would be a good deal for UPS on a 6 year contract because the following contract we start at a lower hourly wage.

$36.19 at 3 percent per year is $41.95 after 5 years.
Over $1.15 raise per year.

My guess (and only that) is a substandard, back weighted contract; which is a worse deal for us. Something like .80 .80 .90 1.00 1.00

$1.15 per year (to keep up with inflation) nets us over $7,000 more in a 5 year deal then my predicted raises above.
