UPS is working to finalize its team sponsorship plans for 2009 and will make an announcement once those plans are complete.
UPS has supported NASCAR since 2000 when it became the Official Express Delivery Company of NASCAR. A year later, UPS became a team sponsor for Robert Yates Racing and driver Dale Jarrett, and launched its highly popular "Race the Truck" advertising campaign that made Dale’s name synonymous with UPS, and the “big brown truck" synonymous with NASCAR.
In a move that placed UPS among the first sponsors to race a Toyota Camry, UPS and Dale Jarrett teamed up with Michael Waltrip Racing (MWR) for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. When Dale decided to retire from racing, David Reutimann was chosen to take over as the pilot of the #44 UPS Toyota for the remainder of the 2008 season.
In a news conference today at Bristol Motor Speedway, MWR announced that Aaron’s will be the new sponsor for David Reutimann for the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. They will sponsor David in the #00 Toyota for half of the 2009 Cup series season and in 10 Nationwide series races.
At this time, UPS is working to finalize its team sponsorship plans for 2009 and will make an announcement once those plans are complete. We wish David Reutimann and the Michael Waltrip Racing Team well in their future endeavors.
