Obama is furious over oil spill

Moreluck,

"stupid is as stupid does" FOX and the RNC surrogates on TV and Radio run with this idea that Obama COMPARED the Gulf spill with 911 and then you pick up the ball and run with it on this blog.

Here is the quote that is being used by the right wing nuts:

"In the same way that our view of our vulnerabilities and our foreign policy was shaped profoundly by 9/11, I think this disaster is going to shape how we think about the environment and energy for many years to come," he told the US political website Politico."

It doesnt take an english major to comprehend or assertain that the president is speaking about VULNERABILITIES and how the events of 911 CHANGED OUR COUNTRIES THINKING and this oil spill exposes the very same VULNERABILITIES and they will ultimately CHANGE OUR THINKING about oil and the environment.

Only a person with a lacking education would interpret this statement any other way.

This sentence in no way represents a comparision of a terrorist act with an industrial accident. There are lessons to learn in every accident or terrorists attack. It can be effectively argued that both 911 and the gulf spill could have been prevented, however, in each case using retrospect, we can find solutions to prevention down the road.

The 911 families who originally aired this complaint are out of line and do not grasp the concept of what is being said.

Peace.

(Are you refering to the first gulf war or when after 11 years of constant sanctions and occasional bombings on select targets we got sick of Saddams BS and finished what we should have back in 1991?) We went into Iraq because there was supposedly these WMD's there (yes we did because for 11years Saddam did not follow the rules and kept acting like he had WMDs....did you see the FBI interview with Saddam?....and that we might get attacked. I mean they basically are countries. They, as far as I can tell, are attacking the southeastern US with oil. And so I propose, from one of the effected beaches, Obama wear a hard hat and a bull horn and declare war on BP and invade them. (sounds like Chavez socialism your proposing and im sure Obama would love to take over Oil companies...just like he wants the Banks and car companies)
They've got no standing army. We take over their buildings. We put the workers, their folks in internment camps and we just get their checks and do what we can with the money to solve the problem down there.......Problem solved....How can the war mongering neo-Cons not like this option....instead, they take a position of BP appeasers...do you guys hate America ?....lol(nope...we love America and need to stop Obama-nation from his incompetence...you just keep drinking Obamas Kool-aid and everything will be ok in Obama-land...lol.)

Geez, Luc... your like a starving oil laden fish in the Gulf....You took the bait as if that was a seriously written post....lol

Good thing BP didn't have this accident in Canada or England
Palin and Co would have blamed our Prime Ministers and bombed us to hell !

Hang on.... something familiar happened already with the Exxon Valez.
What another shi..tty president that was !!!
Can't you guys have presidents not creating oil leaks ????
What can you expect, eh ?

I got laughed at , not to long ago... when saying this is a major disaster.
Now, maybe some of you can atleast admit it ?
Was even in Mexican news !
I don't think I can watch the news without it being on.

I say blame the presidents for the US being the largest consumer of oil, too.

Might as well take all the blame.

Tie, that post was a joke....can't your radar detect sarcasm anymore ?

As far as blaming someone else, and or updating spill clean up technology in the last 40 yrs....Rachel nails it....the first two videos...must see TV 6/14/10.... then try and debunk it without attacking Rachel's sexual orientation....

Drill baby drill.......on land!!

The Dems. are always screaming about viable alternatives to petroleum. Funny, but I don't see anybody moving forward on nuclear energy plants !! So, it could be many, many years to eliminate our huge need for gas....better have ways to get oil not involving the middle east.

Moreluck,

Maybe your constant viewing of FAUX news prevented you from actually keeping yourself informed?

You said "Funny, but I don't see anybody moving forward on nuclear energy plants !! "

Let me try to help you out (again)

This president has authorized the first construction of nuclear power plants since the three mile island disaster. You have your facts WRONG, again.

Bush in eight years did nothing for future energy concerns. The problem with nuclear power plants is what to do with the tons of radioactive waste that is produced. We as a nation still do not have a secure facility to store this waste and prevent another type of disaster.

There are still many issues to tackle relating to nuclear energy and safety. Maybe you could suggest your town as a candidate for storing nuclear waste?

Peace.

Toonertoo,

Welcome to reality. Most people dont really understand what is happening under the sea from this oil drilling rig disaster. If you watch channels like FAUX news, all you see if oil on the surface and no explanation of what is happening under the water.

In addition to raw crude, there is natural gas leaking into the water, hydrocarbons and toxins are leaking by the tons. If that wasnt bad enough, millions of tons of toxic oil dispersant are being sprayed into the water. These chemicals combined are killing everything from fish to plant life.

Why isnt ANY cable news channel showing the dead dolphins washing ashore, the hundreds of dead sea turtles floating up, the thousands of schools of fish floating to the surface or the hundreds of birds laying covered in oil on beachs along the gulf.

National Geographic is saying that this spill will cause a "dead zone" in the gulf and every living thing will be killed and nothing will live in the gulf for decades.

There is alot more to concern ourselves with than oil skimming the surface of the water or cleaning a beach.

You will never learn this watching FAUX news or hanging out on right wing websites. The right wing NEVER talks about the sustained damaged that will be caused by this oil rig disaster under the surface of the water, instead, they minimize the damage and speak of more off shore rigs in the deep water.

Hopefully, the nature of this disaster will change our focus and find alternative ways to power our cars and make products without the need for crude.

Peace.

Dear other side. I know all about it. Fox news is hardly all I listen to. I listen all day, and leave my tv on all night. Im so informed that it makes most peoples heads spin. Ive contacted BP, Deep Horizon, River keepers,, ducks unlimited, risk management companies in the area, gulf oil spill jobs.
You would like to think that you are so dam smart, and everything I know comes from one source. You are sooooooooooooo misguided.
But right now I really dont care that Obama has been totally incompetent and that he should be concerned with stopping the spill instead of suing and blaming. His job is to safeguard our country, not run every aspect of it.

I am worried about the gases that could be making volunteers sick and searching for a way I can go help. I worry about the ducks and the pelicans and the wildlife and the economy of the people who make their living from the sea. And I worry from what I have read, listened to and researched that it could have been better from the start if Our great leader had moved as fast on this, as he does on the basketball court. Unfortunately he did not.

So please preach elsewhere, I dont need your awareness, I have my own, and my eyes and ears are always open to things I havent heard. Ive heard your crap, and it sounds like blah blah blah.
Here is an idea, put me on ignore. I read your posts, sometimes with interest, and I disagree usually, but I seldom try to tell you that I think you are uninformed. I have one judge, and it aint you.

Obama says we'll transition to a greener nation....he has no plan, but we're gonna get there. Praise Allah !

Did you watch the speech ?????? He mentioned 3 things that came to his attention regarding greener energy, (and looking at all other ideas), he also mentioned how well China is doing greener.
I'm sure you'll find out, somewhere on your fox news, maybe ?

I can say we need to build nuclear plants, but if I have no plans, no property assigned, no blueprints, it's not going to happen by osmossis !! I listened to all 18 mins. of the speech. It was laughable, him trying to be presidential.

Im all for greener energy, but lets get it before we destroy the only fuel source we have. I have no problem having a solar panel, and a propellor on my work truck. How do you feel about having the same on the plane taking you on your vacations. Or on the streamlined boat. Since today we cannot power them this way, lets not outlaw what works! Klein I know you are smarter than this.
