One In 5 Young Adults Doing Absolutely Nothing

Poop Head

Judge me.
When was the last time you saw a kid looking to mow grass? They can make good money doing that if they don't mind sweating a bit.
Had a kid knock on the door after the first snow last winter. Was so impressed with his initiative that i paid him 20 bucks to shovel my sidewalk and small driveway.

Yeah always bless, even much older "adult" kids waiting tables and such. Good for their work ethic and also makes them less likely to roll over for people who try to con them out of their fair worth.

Yeah. 1st time anyone came around the neighborhood for anything, snow shoveling, lawnmowing, leaf raking, etc... in the 10+ years ive lived here.

doing something doesnt imply morality.

you could be doing something like killing people overseas. in that case you are better off doing nothing. you could be doing something at a polluting career or making the world worse on wall street.
You know you actually have a point here Ricky, I’d rather see AOC and Pelosi living under a bridge doing nothing than what they are doing right now.

The age group I see out in public that should be mowing lawns or working at an entry level job looks scary to me.
They are so fat they couldn’t flip a burger, much less push a lawn mower. Others don’t have enough sense to have a normal conversation. While yet others are socialist and don’t even know it.
I still think Starbucks and Panara Bread are responsible for the pussification of America.

I wish I could just quit. I’m not leaving though until I have a plan B.
I was in Oaxaca, Mexico for three months. I found a furnished room for about $150 a month, included private bath, private entrance, electricity, and excellent wifi. I ate out every day. Went to a handful of American movies in English at a very nice theater. Cab rides were around $3 each way. If I took them at all. Good airport. Nice people. I know maybe 40 words in Spanish. If you want to pay more for a nice apartment you certainly can. There's a very active Oaxaca expat group on Facebook with lots of help and some do meet-ups to socialize. Get Dish set up at relative's home and access it through Dish Anywhere app. There are situations like this all over Mexico and elsewhere. Hope to be in Argentina next year. You can certainly stay and work to supplement your pension. Whatever makes you happy. But it was sure nice for me not having to struggle to get by while still paying on bills back in the States. Add up your pension plus SS and compare it to what you make now. Will you get by ok in the future without working? Your SS and pension will go twice as far in Mexico. And close to three times as far in Argentina. In Buenos Aires a lot of people speak English. So Plan B can start sooner than you think if you want it too. After trying a number of jobs after I retired that didn't pay well and were mind numbing I'd rather just do my own thing. Pretty hard to do that in the States without the income.

You mean a country with Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Home Depot, and most American fast food restaurants? Excellent wifi? Doctors who trained in the States or Europe? Mild weather and nice scenery? Fantastic beaches? Easy access back to the States? You could do worse and many will.
