Overgoods / Lost package help -- $250 REWARD, NO BULL

IF the shipper brought insurance for the value of the package it would have been a HV we would have gotten a signature even without a Sig Req.

This is not true.

The only high values that we as drivers are made aware of are those $5K or more. We have to sign for these in the morning and the consignee has to sign at delivery. We then have to put HV in the remarks column and, in my center, have to ODS that the delivery has been made or the reason for non-delivery.

In the case of the OP I would have DR'd that package.

HV is anything over $1000 declared value. If they aren't going to tell you or get a sign for stuff under $5000 of declared value than why is the HV level set at $1000

I Have delivered HV items that clearly are not worth $5000 and have to sign the paper in the morning saying I got the package. Than I get a sig when I deliver the package or it's Ni1.

We only sign for high values in excess of $5K as these are the only ones controlled every step of the way. Yes, we do sign for packages that we pickup that are $1K or higher in value, but these are not controlled in the same manner as those $5K or higher.

I challenge you to go on your car this morning and identify any package with an insured value of $1K or more based solely on the markings on the package.

I'll agree to disagree. I have to go to work.

1. First of all, to clarify for those of you who seem to be mocking me for not purchasing insurance... if you would have read the complete thread, you would have seen that I did not ship this package. I bought it out of state through a friend and it was taken to a UPS store for packing/shipping. Unfortunately my friend wasn't aware that insurance needed to be purchased, so none was added. I'm not completely stupid. So please stop with the insults. I'm not insulting the employees who lost of stole the package. I understand **** happens, I'm just trying to do my best to locate the items.

2. These aren't one of a kind items, but are valuable

3. Although the tracking info shows claim issued, the case has been re-opened and is on-going. All anyone at the 800 wants to do is close the tracer case, issue a $100 claim, and be done with it. But obviously that doesn't help me at all. So that is why we keep pushing this.

Now, as far as a description of the item:

Item: thermal cameras
Manufactuer: FLIR
Model: Bcam SD
Physical description: yellow and black
Serial Numbers: unknown

These were 2 identical cameras each packaged in 2 black "pelican cases".... i.e. 1 box that contained 2 cases. If you don't know what a pelican case is, its a padded plastic case for expensive equipment. Each case measure approximately 15x12x6. Each case has a sticker on it with FLIR and a design of the camera.

Here is a picture of exactly what it should look like. Again, there should be 2 of these, identical:

You can sort of see the sticker that is on the case behind the camera and manual.

The problem seems to be that most overgoods items are categorized by serial number only... since i don't have this, I don't see any other way to find the items besides someone physicall walking around and looking for it. Which no ones seems to want to do.

Again, I want to thank those of you who are actually trying to help. For those on here who just want to ridicule, please do something else with your time.

Thanks and Merry Christmas

Sorry but anyone who ships a package worth in excess of $1K and fails to properly insure it gets no sympathy from me. Consider it a lesson learned and move on.

If I had to guess, I'd say the label definitely fell off and the package is at an overgoods facility. Our labels don't stick to those cases well at all. Seen them partially off all the time. I always tape the label all the way around the case for protection. Best way to label those cases is with a tag label that is attached to the handle. I hope someone in overgoods can find this guy's package. Good luck to the O.P.

The cases were actually packaged into a cardbox box, so the label would have had to fallen off from it. No shipping labels on the cases themselves...

...this is why UPS recommends that the shipper put either a duplicate label or shipper/receiver information, to include contact information, on the inside of the package...

I think what he was trying to say is... if you're not going to post something that is helpful to this particular situation, please don't post at all. I'm unsure that anybody wants to hear what could have potentially been done differently to avoid this catastrophe, as he did not ship it himself.

If he's trolling for a answer that he is going to like than he has to take the good with the bad.
