Package Car Dreams....

If I could change one thing about my pkg car, I would have it loaded by an employee whose supervisor wasn't a Taco Bell reject with an attitude and a clip-on polyester tie.
.....Good one, Thats so funny I past gas laughing at the Taco Bell reference....

If I could change one thing in my pkg cars, it'd be that they be operated by non-teamster employees who earned their jobs by merit, not seniority.

That's why UPS didn't leave business decisions up to you, we'd have half of Mexico working for UPS below minimum wage chained to their package cars with the threat of deportation unless meeting the maximum stops/hr quota........SuperSub = Tieguy.....one in the same. It is you, right Tieguy?

the funny thing is, it'd probably be more effiicient, with grateful employees making half what ungrateful pissants like you make. Oh well, at the end of the day, I've done your job with a smile and a good attitude, while you moan about the people superior to you (yes, SUPERIOR), who have a job that you can't begin to comprehend. PS - You're welcome.

If you could have something different for your package car, what would it be? Jokes are good, but give a serious answer too.

I would of course like a young lady massaging my shoulders, but realistically ?

How about built lower to the ground so the knees can last longer?

I don't think the package cars are the reason that your knees are sore.

Nice spin Mr god's gift to Supervisors, but people I work for show some class towards their employees which results in good feedback. By the way you treat people and like to think of your ego-testicle self as SUPERIOR, I see why you have a pitiful depressed existance and take it out on your pissants as you refer to. By the way you post and spew your distaste for humanity and those who work hourly at UPS, we all could sensed your big bad bravado superior attitude be reduced to being Bubba's recipient in your SUPERIOR'S office. Bring the K-Gel next time you see him...with this economy, it may be your last....Take care Bubba's girlfriend :thumbup1:

It obvious how you got to where you claim to be with those carpet burns on your knees :surprised: ......Bubba taught ya...didn't he?

When I was short distance driving a big ole P700 '70 Ford, the answer was power steering and a working gas gauge ;)

You can change it.Go to Fed Ex Air..You can tell a big difference between the sups who drove for 30 days and the sups who earned their stripes abd drove at least 5 years.....We have a dispatch sup like you in our center. He would have been fired several times but his Daddy is retired high up mgt...Sounds like you have a daddy on the board.

You do understand that supervisors make more than those they supervise? One of the reasons that I left a very easy driving job. Of course, with my ability to read and write, I was overqualified to be a teamster.

LOL. Not according to my on-car sup. His salary isn't as much as the drivers with the most overtime in the center.

hmm ,your package cars huh? Tell you what? Just try using one of "your" package cars to move some of your personal things one weekend and I think you will get an education about your supposed ownership of said package car.

Hmm, what would I like? Comfortable seat, ice cold A/C, keyless entry, power steering, enough power to spin my tires from a dead stop (with an empty truck, could get a little fishtail action when making a right turn and catching a little loose dirt, NOT THAT I EVER DID THAT), CLEAN interior that was armour-all 'd once a week, 12V hook-up for my XM Boombox so I didnt burn through batteries, and low door entry to save my knees......er wait, I had that with FedEx. Then again, I also made about $10.00 hour less that a UPS driver, no job security and had to pay $53.00 for insurance. Glad Im on Team Brown!

referencing that 12 volt hook up problem. If you have a cigarette lighter socket in the truck ( do you?) then problem solved. the boom box runs on dc current and the cigarette lighter provides 12 volt dc. How to use it? Go to a radio shack and buy a dc converter that allows you to plug into your cigaretter lighter( very similar looking to what you plug in to charge your cell phone). From the body of the device are two wires that lead to a variety of different fittings that may or may not fit into your xm fitting. If not cut off the fittings from the dc converter leaving two exposed wires. Strip the insulation off the ends leaving about an inch of exposed wire on both ends. Attach an alligator clip to each end . Put some electrical tape around the bottom of the clip for good measure. Now open up the compartment where you install the expensive batteries for your boombox(remove batteries, duh) and attach one alligator clip to the spring(that was easy) and the other clip to the flat metal clip (where the top of the battery goes, not so easy) . Now there are settings on dc converter for 12,9, 7.5, 6, 4.5 volt. Choose 12 volts. And now pay attention, this is important. Dc currents flows in one direction unlike ac current. Your device will only work with dc flowing in one particular direction. If it flows in the wrong direction, device won't work and after 5 seconds or so, the transistors will be damaged and your device will never work. So there is a polarity setting on dc converter + or - . Which one to use? 50 50 chance. Start with a - setting, plug convertor into cigarette lighter socket and hit power button on boombox, if it doesn't light up immediately(ie your display doesnt go on) remove dc convertor immediately from cigarette lighter. Change setting to +. Do it again. If it doesn't light up remove dc convertor from cig lighter for safety. One of your alligator clips isn't attached properly. Get the idea? If it works, close the battery compartment taking care not to cut wires leave a little slack within compartment so that if wire gets pulled , stress doesn't pull clips off. I hope this makes sense to you. I could say more but i hate to think how much space this is taking.

Of course, Air Conditioning would be at the top of mine and just about everyone else's list. A radio also would be nice. With peak starting, I'd love a catapult built on the side of the truck so instead of walking to the houses I could just catapult their packages to their door. Of course I'd throw them at our patented UPS catch pillows that we installed at their front door. My helper could operate the catapult so I wouldn't have to even stop. Hey, I might even scratch my numbers with that device!

We had a manager that thought a lot like you do. He's been on the outside looking in for years now. His 'holier than thou' attitude made him think that the company couldn't survive without him................he was wrong!
What goes around....comes around. With an attitude adjustment....you might just last a few more years. Think about it!!

I don't know of any driver supervisor that makes more than the seniority drivers. Ever.
I was best friends with a center manager, and he told me he barely made more than drivers except for the bonus stock which he really couldn't touch anyways.
When you add in the 12 hour days, forget about it !! Not by the hour !!

SuperSup, you gotta be glad they don't drug test you !!!

Power steering would be nice. People are dumbfounded when they learn that about 75% of our fleet is without power steering. I mean... it's 2008...

I take it you have not driven package ? They do not come equipped with working cig lighters. The Sprinters had cig lighters and 12v outlets from the factory but all of ours were disconnected before being put into service. Attaching alligator clips to hot wires are against UPS policy.

It's funny you say that. In my center, when a driver says MY package car, the next day he has a different package car. It helps make the point that I have a fleet of cars, and what I do with them is up to my discretion.

Package cars are technically an asset of the shareholders. Proving a point that they are your cars just puts you beneeth the drivers mentallity. It may cause service failures and cause your overallowd to go up. Do the company a favor and see the big picture.
