It seems like shipping is in high demand, with more and more people shopping online... What do you suggest?
Shipping is in demand, the labor is the problem. There is a high supply of people willing to do our non cdl work for less money. Especially if the company decides to spend the same on labor and put more routes in making the job easier.

Honestly I don’t know much about shipping unless you are talking driving. CDL labor is in demand, but how much longer will that last with automation in the coming years. I can’t see them automating our package delivery jobs, technology just isn’t there in my opinion. But feeder drivers I feel differently about.

Yeah. Without a serious uprising, only the currently wealthy will continue to accumulate wealth.

Common people and our trades are sacred and inherently valuable. We should organize like our lives depend on it. Because they do.
Look how much worker revolutions end. You’re screw either way if that happens.

And that kind of weak minded thinking is why the company will be able to break the union and stop giving workers their fair share.
I will strike like the rest even if cost me everything. I’ll vote down what I see as impending doom.
I can’t see the rest of my coworkers following suit, I don’t think we’ll be talking strike in a decade or so. I think we’ll be locked out.

A whole lot of people in this country agreed with you and President trump was the result.

You mean like the PT Union members that work at minimum wage and no benefits so the FT package delivery drivers can bash them everyday instead of management?

Lol! Trump! That's not the kind of revolt that I'm talking about.

Honestly don’t let stress blind you to the fact you already won the biggest jackpot in the universe. You’re alive, try to learn to enjoy that. Don’t let all the bs blind you to that. Life has a funny way of making us forget we are alive.
Until you or a family member with a health crises. 62 years old and never had a lost time injury or health issue including the Mrs. or children. Praise be to God.

I've supported my disabled mother since I was 20. It keeps getting harder. But it is amazing to be alive

So it's not just that you are trying to support yourself or a small family. You are trying to support someone with a disability. That is obviously going to make things more difficult. I agree that pt'ers should make more than they do. But since that can't be changed right this second, and may not change ever, what we need to do is figure out what can be done to help your situation now.

I don't want to get too personal, and I assume that you have applied for every bit of government funding you can. At very least there should be some social security money coming in to help. There may also be some private charity assistance you can apply for. Without knowing more, it may be difficult to point you in the right direction. But I do hope you are at least getting some help from somewhere, and if not I really think you ought to be.

Thank you. My Mom had an aneurysm when I was 20 and she has been semi functional since. It's a hard thing to prove to gov agencies because it's more subtle. Not paralysis or something that can easily be just seen. It left her more childlike and unable to understand her bills or to be very efficient at work. It effected her cognitive functions.

She gets partial social security because she took it out early at age 62. She has no savings or retirement, and she was no longer able to drive school buses due to her confusion.

So she's been working at a bakery that pays her minimum wage. They aren't very nice to her because she isn't as fast as her 20 year old coworkers and can't understand the computerized cash register.

Anyway, the PT bakery thing and the partial SS is not enough to make it so I took her in. I make too much to qualify for gov assistance, although I am technically in poverty. I make about 24,000 a year. I can't afford Obama care so I've been paying the tax fee for the last few years.

I'll be insured by UPS in October though, so that's major. I'm looking into making my mom a dependent. As her Medicare coverage is pretty bleak.

So there you have it.

It is relative. This conflict between the FT folks and the PT folks has us divided and that is a major threat to our solidarity.
You're a few decades late.
There's no treasure down there.
