Personal Vehicle Deliveries

What am I paying the union for if some outside kid with a tricked out civic can go round up a 10 hour work day in their vehicle? Why am I not given the opportunity to cycle smalls around my city? Why are insiders suddenly last when it comes to helpers?

I have one question for our spineless union. Why should I keep paying 2 1/2 hours out of every paycheck to you Gutless Turds.

Because, you have limited opportunities or other marketable job skills ?

And the gutless union who allows this to happen is still yanking 2 1/2 hard working hours of pay out of our checks while we're being thrown under the bus.

How many union meetings have you attended?

None.

The OP has a lot of guts on an anonymous message board. I'm betting he doesn't open his mouth at a union meeting.

He/She just read or got involved with TDU ?

Too many TDU "buzz words".

In exchange the Union can recognize a base performance level. Every route to have a base SPORH and every inside op a base pph and any employees failing to meet that can be subject to progressive discipline.

Sounds good, as long as you really mean any and ALL employees, including management.

2033, I'm telling you straight up that our local is either bought and paid for, too scared to make a move, or run by complete retards, and I'm starting to think that it's all three situations. Last year I watched what appeared to be a dry run with this whole idea of using non union street temps, who were meeting with drivers and filling up their truck beds with packages. You should be more concerned why a union member driver is backstabbing his brothers by playing along with this instead of helping protect inside jobs. Would you prefer that I say we don't have a union anymore instead of giving them a little credit by calling them gutless turds that still exist although only as a shimmer of light. Maybe, just maybe, if the IBT wasn't a political machine instead of a real union, and maybe if our money went to funding retirements instead of Hillary Clinton and Obama, maybe, just maybe, this sorry excuse for a president Jimmy Hoffa Jr. would mean something to me, but he doesn't. All those mailbox newsletters with him holding up his fist with union members as UPS continues to break a dick off in everybody as they smile. So, please, don't ask me union questions unless you want an honest answer.

I like honest answers. But my question was what are you doing to change things? I have actually been trying to research what it would take to switch unions, because I'm not happy with how things are going either. So far I've come up empty, as such my next best bet is to do what I can to have my voice heard with the teamsters. If your local is weak, run for an officer position on the board and try to help strengthen it. Or at least vote for someone who will.

Company would love that. In order to hold management to those numbers you'd have to remove the penalties for management doing that work.
As greedy as the company is you'd soon have preload operations with 5 hourlies and 70 supervisors. (Damn thing would run like a mother though)

BigUnionGuy, that's because I've been reading you guys ranting for years then watching threads get either hijacked by clowns every time. To be honest, I gave this post about 5 replies before it went off the rails, and on top of that I was waiting for a union guy to join in and start explaining for the company, and bingo... Again, UPS is creating a non-union, parallel work force, that's taking away work from career UPSers with families, and violating every rule in the book, and you would have me believe that this is the result of our union having guts.
