Peyton Manning had neck surgery today and is expected to miss 2-3 months.

Can Kerry Collins carry the Colts to the playoffs?

As a football fan I feel bad for Peyton and the Colts.

As a Patriots fan I couldn't be happier as Peyton and the Colts have always been a thorn in our sides.

He`ll be back in less than a week. The Colt`s acquired Liberty Mutual in the off season and their doctor has cleared him to play.

While Kerry can guide the Colts into the playoffs, he certainly will be unable to carry them in. It is still a potent offense with loads of options at the other "skill positions" We now get to see if Peyton really is the great field general we all believe him to be. Funny how what comes around goes around. Eli ends Kerry's brief stint at QB for Giants, and now Kerry steps in for Peyton. As a fan of the sport, it stinks not to have the best out there, playing at their best. Team allegiances aside, line up and go proverbial mano-a-mano. Thats what it's all about. So what may be good for the rest of the leagues teams from a competitive standpoint, it's not so good for the NFL to have Peyton doing his thing. Heal quick number 18, but heal smart, you will be missed by this fan. As you recover feel free to assist your little brother.

It's not surprising that Indy lost today and it certainly is probably going to be a very long season for them. There were plenty of surprises though. The fact that CIN and DET won their away games is great but what is even more amazing is that AZ didn't give away their home game. AZ actually looked really good today. Another surprise win was SF. If these teams can keep it up we might have an interesting season.

just remember a couple of things.... this season cannot be judged in the first 3 or 4 weeks.... having said that... the Colts have zero chance without Manning....
