The judge has passed the ball to the appellate courts on multiple issues. He never should have allowed the trial to happen there, and not sequestering the jury was just dumb.

Even if he gets convicted, he's getting out on appeal.

The judge should have immediately called a mistrial but consistent with his previous behavior. He seems to expect the case to get appealed anyway and playing it safe for himself.

I guess he doesn't want any pig heads on his front porch.
