He that believes and is baptized shall be saved.
I'm going with the Lord's math. He does the casting.

1 + 2 = 3
Believe + Baptism = Saved

1 + 0 = 3
Believe + No Baptism = Saved
I agree that baptism follows the Lords command & everyone must do it (immersion). However, we depart on the fact that it isn't doing the saving work.

You've blowed about this before.
I don't care what they did or didn't do. I know what the scriptures teach me to do and why,

Tell the Lord on judgement day you liked your math better.
And i would continue to pursue what your pursuing.
All I'm saying is, if water baptism plays THE role in saving your soul, then Jesus would have baptized the disciples in the sea after they ate the fish. Showing the world that THIS act is the entrance point.

They were baptized by John for the repentance of sins, skipped over the "baptism for salvation" and were baptized by the holy spirit.

It will be too late then.

No doubt about it.

Wow, Man. You've got it figured out not only what Jesus should have done, you even know when he should have done it.
And you know everything they did that is not recorded the 40 days he walked the earth after his resurrection. And you even know that the Holy Spirit would have recorded if they had.
With this kind of divine insight and ability, you'd think you could do math.

But John wasn't a Christian. Neither was Jesus. The Church hadn't been established yet.

I see the great commission as the call of Jesus to go out and spread the word of the gospels to those around us and to make disciples of them through salvation (and baptism), and then help them start them on their journey to live their life according to His will and then lead others to Christ also. My curiosity of my asking is how you view it
I view the great commission to be a specific message to those called as evidenced by their spiritual gifting.

Do you believe in spiritual gifts?

Live out your purpose in this day.

The concept of "one day at a time" is rooted in several biblical passages, particularly in the teachings of Jesus in Matthew 6:34, which advises against worrying about the future and encourages focusing on the present day. This idea is further reinforced by the emphasis on God's provision for each day, as seen in the Lord's Prayer and the story of manna in the wilderness.

Here's a more detailed look at the biblical perspective on living one day at a time:
    • Matthew 6:34:
"So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today," according to Bible.com. This verse directly addresses the tendency to worry about the future and encourages believers to focus on the present, trusting that God will provide for their needs each day.
    • The Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:11):
"Give us this day our daily bread," according to Bible Gateway. This part of the prayer acknowledges our dependence on God for our daily sustenance and reinforces the idea of living in the present.
    • Psalm 118:24:
"This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it". This verse encourages a perspective of gratitude and joy for the present day, recognizing it as a gift from God.
    • Lamentations 3:22-23:
"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness". This verse highlights the fresh mercies and grace that God provides each morning, emphasizing that each day brings new opportunities and provision.
    • 2 Corinthians 5:17:
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come" says BibleRef.com. This verse speaks of the ongoing transformation in Christ and the importance of living each day as a new beginning.
    • Philippians 4:6-7:
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus". This passage encourages prayer and thanksgiving as a way to combat anxiety and find peace in God's presence.
The concept of living one day at a time in the Bible is not about being reckless or ignoring the future, but rather about trusting in God's provision for each day, cultivating gratitude, and focusing on His will for the present moment. It's about finding strength and peace in the midst of daily challenges by relying on God's grace and guidance.

After Peter's sermon in Acts 2, they knew they had killed the Son of God. They believed Jesus was the Son of God to the point their hearts were pricked and asked the Apostle, “ What must we do to be saved?” -V 37 ..Peter told them in V 38 “ Nothing! You believe! Just like us. Go home. It’s all good. We’ll just put you all in a place we’ll call the church in V 47.

I'm not sure what you mean by spiritual gifts.
The great commission calls for those saved in Christ to reach out to make more believers so they can be disciples to all they can, and to try to bring others to Christ in the same way.

Spiritual gifts are specific abilities and graces given by God to believers through the Holy Spirit, designed to build up the church and strengthen faith. These gifts vary in nature and manifestation, encompassing both seemingly natural talents and supernatural abilities. Examples include wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, prophecy, and various forms of service.

Key Aspects of Spiritual Gifts:
    • Origin:
Spiritual gifts are believed to originate from God, specifically the Holy Spirit, and are given to believers as expressions of God's grace and love.
    • Purpose:
The primary purpose of spiritual gifts is to edify, encourage, and build up the church, both individually and collectively. They are not meant for personal gain or glory but for the common good.
    • Diversity:
There is a wide range of spiritual gifts, as outlined in the New Testament (primarily 1 Corinthians 12, Romans 12, and Ephesians 4). These gifts can be broadly categorized as gifts of wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment, speaking in tongues, and interpretation of tongues, among others.
    • Continuity vs. Cessation:
There is ongoing discussion within Christianity regarding whether spiritual gifts continue to be given today or if some ceased after the apostolic age (a debate known as cessationism versus continuationism).
    • Discovering Your Gifts:
Many resources, including Bible study, prayer, and reflection on personal strengths and passions, can help individuals identify their spiritual gifts.
    • Using Your Gifts:
The New Testament emphasizes the importance of using one's spiritual gifts to serve others, build up the church, and glorify God.

ah.... but I'm still a little confused as to what that has to do with what we are called to do as far as the great commission goes?

I don’t believe I’ve been gifted in this way therefore I don’t believe I have been called in this way.

Have you been gifted with the spiritual gift of evangelism?
