They were doing $75/week here. My loader told me this morning that they are ending it this week.

Saturdays will be rough with no bonus because it tends to be a shorter shift so losses from not coming to work is minimal. For those that goes in, it will be rough.

Still better than nothing, which is what my local is getting, we never had a retention bonus despite being understaffed.

Exactly. Preload is understaffed as it is and now they are going to lose the bonus. No one is going to stick around unless they need the insurance.

Make all the part timers leave so they can argue they need a higher starting rate as a reason to not pay drivers more? I dunno. Odd moves with a contract coming up.

We have some drivers that come in early on the clock also. If there isn’t a lot of early a.m.’s those drivers end up working preload also.
@Bastiatian is right, it does seem like an odd strategy. Especially when they’re paying referrals but not for people to stick around.
These this generation does not have the same goal that we had when we started here.
You wanted to get your foot in the door and hopefully go out driving when the chance came.
Most of these newbies do not want it
If you went back this decade ago most of the people are hiring now they wouldn't use as a helper
But the company is desperate for inside part-time help.
They have a very strange way of showing it.
This is probably only coming on a planet that's desperate for employees but does everything they can to either make them quit or fire them.
