Would you consider taking a 22.3 job shortly before retiring?

It depends on your attitude. If you can work safe and go slow under pressure you will do fine.
If you bring your runner gunner i have to do my best at the expense of my body you wont make it. Preload will kill you.
Ups expects just as much work out of preload and air driving as a regular driver. Its up to you to make the job easy. I would stay where you are and try to slow down.

Then do it is my advice.
As a person who has recently been down that path and experiencing the physical downside in retirement, I believe anything that takes stress off your body and mind in the 50's makes so much difference later on!
Twirling in your chair stressful?
