USP has zero tolerance. I think most trucking companies are the same or close even in states that pot is legal. just like alcohol , you can not be impaired while driving. ( did not read story , wally )

If it is legal, can the company do anything if you test positive? You are not under the influence, but you used on your time off.

It will be fine

What say you IWBF?
It’s not much of a study. 28 participants. It makes no adjustment for behaviors that were already present in individuals that would lead them to early marijuana use so there’s no causation. I don’t think anyone advocates teen use of marijuana regardless. It’s a nothing berder click bait story. IMHO

It’s still illegal federally. Any employer can still have a drug free workplace policy that precludes marijuana use. Commercial drivers are still governed by the DOT that doesn’t allow use.

There are lots of prescription drugs that are legal, but could lead to your dismissal if you were found driving under the influence of them.

So, to answer your question, yes, the company CAN do something.

By regulation you can’t have a drink within 4 hours of being on duty. It’s in your off time but that doesn’t matter.

YES!.

we had a driver terminated for testing positive and it barely registered. it was his second offence. first time he opted for drug treatment and after he completed that he was tested on a monthly basis but after 6-7 times failed.

the lawyers would have a field day if a driver got into an injury/fatality accident and any trace of drugs in system.

CA BAL for commercial is 0.04.....half that of 4 wheelers but at UPS it is still ZERO. the company has the right to set their standards.

back in the day if they alcohol tested all the night feeder drivers on a friday half would have been fired. it was common knowledge . most of the guys would come to work from the sports bar casino a couple miles from the hub.

These states are legalizing weed so how can they (Employees) ban anyone from using?
