Someone Clarify Thanksgiving Holiday Changes??

My wife had eye surgery done (prior to this contract) and was being treated by one of the best ocular professionals to make sure she doesn't have hereditary detachment issues. We presented our new TeamCare insurance card to them. The doctors office handed the card back to her and bluntly said "we cannot use your new insurance, it's junk".
So, we're paying out of pocket now to allay fears of her losing an existing preferred eye doctor.

I have to ask you this.

Your Doctor is now.... "out of network" correct ?

There is something to be said, for dealing with medical people you know.

But, really.... "Your insurance is junk" ?

That sounds more like, lazy office personnel.

The insurance is not junk. People are unhappy. When people are unhappy and then they talk. Then they spread stories. It's the ups culture for this to happen. It's kinda like the feeder network.

Neither I nor my wife said it was "junk". The office staff person that handles the insurance did. I'm not a liar. Save the cheap shot.

At the least, TeamCare is much more restrictive than the plan many UPS employees had in the realm of doctor coverage and "in network" service available. Unfortunately, we can't go back. We'll deal with today's issues today hoping that change is possible.

Yes. Out of network.
Saying "your insurance is junk" to a patient is very unprofessional, especially in the medical field. It was a shock to hear that and the way she said it was embarrassing to me as the cardholder.
It doesn't change the outcome tho.
This ocular specialist is the best in our area. The situation sucks.

Any place I've ever been they say I have great insurance. When I tell them I pay no monthly premium they can't believe it.

I read your post twice. Maybe you could read it again. I'm not sensitive to a blind forum post. I'm sensitive to people diluting real issues to fit their agenda.
Were you quoted in the said post? If not you got your feelings hurt. If you are getting your feelings hurt on an Internet forum you should report it to a moderator. Since it's not a violation I think you are a little to sensitive. I hope you figure it out and have a great Labor Day.

That explains it.

It's like most things in life.

You have this....

But, you feel entitled to this....

I love the word entitled. If people would look it up and spend some time learning the meaning they might have an epiphany. Think about how many things people feel entitled to.

Thanks. You as well. My feelings never got hurt.

If it was your wife's eyesight you may have a different attitude about it.
The post is childish.
You are getting to upset with this Internet forum. I suggest you contact a moderator to report us or just go away. The kitchen isn't even hot at all and you need a wet towel for your head.

We all feel for your wife but we aren't at fault. I hope she gets better but it seems you might be here for an agenda and we just hang out here because we enjoy each other's company.

I'm sorry Bug, but no matter how you cut it we retirees really got screwed with the health care deal.
I'm paying for things and prescriptions that I never even saw before. Literally thousands of dollars.

Now, is it better than the insurance most people have? Yes. Is it junk? No. But the union let a multi-billion dollar
world wide company walk away from a benefit it can certainly afford. And now the union is in control
of this money. Will they use it wisely? Forgive me, but I think my doubts are justified.

Strike 1: my wife's "condition" wasn't blamed on you.
Strike 2: I'm not "in the kitchen" or hot whatsoever.
Strike 3: TeamCare does not "mirror" our old plan (as we we're told) unless you're looking through translucent glass to see the mirror. Duck and weave, change the subject all you want to. That's the issue I'm talking about with no agenda. Just personal facts. Done.

There are no strikes in this Internet forum. It is neither bowling or baseball. You took it personal. You took me quoting another good member of this forum as an attack. It hurt your feelings. Sorry but you can't take the heat. Once again if you can't take it call a moderator and if you are scared go to church. I'm just hanging with my friends on an Internet chat forum. You are just pissed.

Especially union people.
Dave we are all entitled to things in life. We don't see it through others eyes. You and I have a great life. Ups played a part in it for both of us. Other things along the course of out lives sculpted us into who we both are today. We as union people feel entitled to get certain things at work the way we want them. Either we want 75 stops a day or want to come in for fifteen minutes before start time to set up the load is either here not there.

We all could have an epiphany if we just took a day and looked at life through a new set if eyes.

No matter what I appreciate what I have. I came from less than nothing in life to get where I'm at. I appreciate what God has given me. I appreciate my perspective on life as it's ever evolving and I appreciate everyone I meet in life through this forum or in person including yourself.

May God bless us all you included and I hope you have a great time being a grandpa. It's a new lease on life for you.

Happy Labor Day
