Pentagon planning to send tanks, armor to Syria to protect oil fields

“The Pentagon is preparing to send tanks and armored vehicles to Syrian oil fields, according to a U.S. official – a stunning reversal of President Trump's decision to withdraw U.S. forces from the war-torn country after he declared victory over ISIS.

The deployment of heavy armor to Syria would represent a significant escalation in the fight, requiring a contingent of additional troops to operate and maintain the vehicles, as well as forces to protect their bases.“

I can't speak to this Admin actually deporting Soldiers. To the best of my knowledge the US Military cannot assist you in obtaining a green card. However, if & when you do....your path to citizenship in streamlined after enlistment. I attended naturalization ceremonies for 2 guys I served with. One from Phillipines, another from Sudan.
Streamlined if you served during a time of conflict. Mine was streamlined for being a Vietnam era vet . I made it by about three months.

Where is @newfie ?

he assured me Trump was setting out this 3D game plan of ending “endless wars”.
Still blown away by how he got you ladies so riled up moving 25 soldiers around.

I anticipate large groups of Dems dropping dead of heartattacks with all the overblown hysteria .

Nah. I just long for the simpler times when our involvement was limited to a few special operators sitting in northern Syria.

Now we’re sending in the tanks, too. To guard oil fields. I don’t like when events make @rickyb look right about us.

Keep in mind that we can only observe the goings on and guess. The government has info that they decided to act upon because it warranted it. Still it's funny to watch those who ripped Trump for pulling out now criticize for staying in.

Trump acted because of his phone call with Erdogan. Not because he’s a master dealmaker or a strategist with top secret info playing 4D chess.

We’re going back into a little corner of Syria now because there’s been a strong bipartisan opinion that Trump did the wrong thing when he caved to Erdogan. And now he’s trying to save face with the tanks.

Didn't say he was, and I mostly agree with your assessments on most things. However it doesn't change the fact that most of what we perceive is on face value while the government is privy to intelligence gathering that affects their decisions. And no matter what they do are criticized and belittled by political opponents. They may have very well just got intelligence that an ISIS group is preparing to blow up those oilfields. Does Trump go ahead and leave and risk looking really bad when the oilfields are destroyed? Or does he go back in and live with ridicule for doing an about face? The only way he could have won with public sentiment was to have never announced a withdrawal. He was fulfilling a campaign promise that didn't seem to need fulfilling at the time.

Wait....I thought Trump said ISIS was defeated. And now they might blow up the oil fields of our Syrian friends?!

Nah. I think Trump and his advisors were deciding on what to do about all the bipartisan backlash. They were looking at a regional map together and Trump pointed and screamed “OIL FIELDS, MONEY MONEY! I LIKE MONEY! I’M THE MONEY MAN! He then started jumping up and down and yelled “THAT’S WHERE I WANNA SEND MY BIG, BEAUTIFUL TANKIES!”

And here we are. LOL

Sending Tanks is archaic in a world of specter gunships & close air support. The amount of dip, smokes, energy drinks, & instant coffee consumed in your tank would be an awesome spectacle.

Wait....I thought your side said ISIS isn't defeated no matter what Trump says? Were you wrong to say that? No matter what he does we for sure can count on Democrats to criticize it. If he announced tomorrow he's implementing socialism and raising taxes to pay for it your side would scream bloody murder against it even though every Democrat candidate is pushing that. Absolutely no winning with you.

It's not.

"One of Donald Trump’s biggest defenders in Congress rebuked the president’s decision to step aside from Kurdish allies in Syria while Turkey’s military advances, saying it would result in the re-emergence of ISIS.

“ISIS is not defeated, my friend. The biggest lie being told by the administration is that ISIS is defeated,” Senator Lindsey Graham told “Fox and Friends” in a phone call Monday. “The Caliphate is destroyed, but there’s thousands of fighters” still there."

-From Bloomberg. The article link is being wonky.

Socialism is actually what I've consistently been yelling for the 2020 Democratic Presidential candidates to not turn toward.

And yet they are, and cheered on by Congressional Democrats. But if Trump were to go that route Dems would be screaming for his head. There's no winning no matter what he does. And while ISIS may be able to meet in little pockets there is no longer a headquarters or large collections of military vehicles. There were still Nazis in Germany after they were defeated, but they were no longer a serious threat to peace. If ISIS flares up they will be too weak at this point to cause the destruction they did before.
