Exactly, or something happens in the meantime.

There are scenarios where a POTUS can act unilaterally and legally. At least for now, President Obama has acted cautiously, yet forcefully. He is using every means short of raining annihilation from the sky on Syria and risking a large scale war for no real good reason.

I'm pretty sure he has a bit more insight into things that you or that weasel thing have. So far he has been rational. That's about all I can hope for these days.

I think they will say yes. Over the next week, Israeli Intelligence will uncover a plot where the Syrian gov't are coordinating with Iranian backed terrorists to launch some kind of chemical attack on the US or some US interest somewhere. The American people gripped in unthinking fear will cry for protection from the security state and President Obama gets a green light from Congress. Cut and dry, easy/peasy!

Besides, most of the GOP (maybe all since Ron Paul is gone) are already willing to wipe Syria from the face of the earth but their only hangup is allowing Obama to get the credit.
