You want a toe? I can get you a toe.
I get 5 weeks. First one is next week--nothing planned--just need a break. The remaining weeks all have at least one holiday built in for the extra money.
You could just work a little OT.

That;s what I say too. I was pretty bummed when I realized I actually pick the week of Labor Day off. Sure I get 6 days pay but I screwed myself out of a day away. I'm a big stupidhead.
You can always make up for this by taking a"dead day"..

I see where you are coming from, but tend to disagree!!! lets say a guy has 30 years here killing himself every day,,,has a summer home on a lake, but never got to spend time up there with his kids when they were little !! Now we are gonnah tell him he cant take 5 weeks up there with his grandchildren??? Said driver paid his dues and deserves the time off which ever season it may be!!!No one NEEDS 6+ weeks of summer vacation. I don't realize what the big deal is about picking 2-3 weeks then going thru the whole list.
I had to wait and so should you is the dumbest reason ever. Like when my dad used to tell me no and I would ask why and he would say just because you need to be told no sometimes.
That is what I thought. I can't see them letting you take weeks off that you picked while in a different job classification, but you sound like you have some experience on the subject.

This is all so funny. The young employee is pissed that he can't get a summer vacation. This old employee has already gone through the things the young employee is pissed at. So, hey old guy, I don't think it's fair that I have to go through the same thing you did and I want you to agree to change it. So what if it's not fair that you had to endure it, I want it my way and I want it now. Get in line sunny and wait your turn!Ha Ha Ha, you are kidding right. The union you belong to set up the "brothers and sisters" narrative. So what you are saying is that as brothers and sisters we owe nothing to the others in our group. I can see I have touched a nerve, by citing socialism you are saying that you earned or worked for something that was taken from you and given to someone else. I would argue that simply being present at a job for a number of years does not qualify as such. But I digress, having 5-7 weeks a year should be enough in my opinion, not being able to take all of it at prime time does not equate it to socialism.
I took the week leading to Labor Day. Love the 10 days off.
I used to take the week before Memorial Day and Labor Day for the 10 day, but now the older drivers have figured it out and they are all taken by the time it's my pick.. oh well. I'll get them back eventually.
