Consider this...

A typical manifest is comprised of the following 7 components:
1. next day air
2. business savers
3. business ground
4. residential savers
5. residential ground
6. scheduled p/u's
7. unscheduled/on demand p/u's

... First off, the system should be smart enough to know whether an address is a business or a residential. So item no.4 - residential savers should NOT even show up in the board. That takes care of that.

Next, why is Orion's calculation based around your scheduled p/u times? Change it.
Orion should ONLY CONSIDER THESE 3 THINGS when determining the optimal route:
next day airs, business savers, and making sure all business is delivered before 5.

Pick up's can easily be worked in to the route manually by the driver.

Think of how smooth Orion COULD calculate a route if you remove the time contraints of the scheduled pickup times.

To Orion Engineers: Make it happen baby! Let's get this thing optimized!

You haven't worked here long enough to get this excited.
Now go recite your DOK and hydrate yourself

Then you will complain that Orion doesn't allow time for pickups. Let management fix their screwups. They wanted this crap, now they got it. Why fix it for free when they appreciate nothing we do?

they don’t fix Orion because drivers run routes there own way instead of following trace. Why fix the problem when drivers fix it for them. I follow Orion 100% everyday I don’t care how stupid it is. If there’s missed there’s missed. Tough titty.

Gravy route
There are MANY other variables that you did not consider.

But that is why Orion by its very nature fails.

Each route has unique areas, challenges, and commitments. All of these are accounted for in a good RDO plan. A plan developed by an experienced engineer confirmed by decades of time studies midigates posible problems and sets the driver up for efficient repeatable adjustments.

I either blindly follow ORION or throw it out completely for the day.

No putting bandaids on a broken arm.
