russia agreed to diplomacy in afghan war which US also tried undermining. if that was true, then the guys i listen to wouldve not mentioned diplomacy

big reason putin invaded is because of an expanding aggressive, not defensive, hostile military alliance.

You realize that if the author actually believed NATO is at fault here he wouldn't have made the dumb suggestion that one has to "plumb the deep recesses of Putin's soul" to figure out why he invaded Ukraine, right?

Here you've got a case of a writer who knows that blaming NATO for Putin's invasion of Ukraine is obviously retarded. But he still supports Putin so he has to pretend his reasons for invading must be so deep and so profound that they're basically conveniently undiscoverable. What a tool.

And the URL of that piece indicates that its publication date is March 30, 2022. At that time Russian forces were still north of Kiev and Ukraine's readiness to declare neutrality and receive a security guarantee probably was their best option. But it's been 2 months since then. Russia has been pushed out of the north of Ukraine and continues its assault on the country's south and east. So pointing at the state of things as of March 30 and trying to apply them to right now seems to be for dumb dumb comrades.

Isn't NATO who's slaughtering civilians in Ukraine. You can cover for Russia all you want but they're the ones invading and killing.

of all the people i listen to whether its abby martin, chris hedges, ralph nader, noam chomsky, lee camp, lawrence wilkerson, glenn greenwald etc, its all on NATO expansion and a little bit on putin's ego which is what im assuming "plumb the recesses of putin's soul" refers to. the article directly references US intelligence concerns on NATO expansion.

doesnt matter what date it is, US and other NATO countries lying about not expanding for 30 years doesnt change.

No, Germany suffered from hyperinflation due to bad policy. Hitler rose to power convincing the Germans he could restore their economy. He became so popular that most Germans were swayed by his arguments of superiority and right to invade and dominate others. They paid dearly for it just as Russia is paying for supporting Putin who appealed to their nationalism and dreams of former domination of their neighbors.
